It is located on a lot owned by Revolutionary War hero, General Hugh Mercer. The home has been immaculately restored to feature modern amenities and is decorated in a relaxing, contemporary style. It was featured on the Historic Fredericksburg Foundation’s 2015 and 2020 tour of homes. The dinning room and living room are in one large room; they feature numerous windows, and a gas fireplace. The kitchen features modern appliances and a sunny breakfast dining nook. A bedroom upstairs includes a library and a sitting area to read and reflect by another gas fireplace. A small bedroom upstairs has a queen sized bed and is located in a quiet corner of the house. A lovely courtyard beckons for an evening glass of wine or dinner, or soak in the hot tub. High speed, wireless internet is available throughout the property. All parts of the property are available to guests. Parking for two cars is available on the left side (west side) of the house. Open the gate and drive in, and do not block the walkway. Close gate when you leave, please. The cottage is located minutes from local tourist attractions such as George Washington’s boyhood home, major Civil War battlefields, and other colonial era sites. Fredericksburg (motto: America’s Most Historic City) is the ideal location to stay to explore its treasures – and to take day trips by car or train to Washington, DC (54 miles/88 km), Richmond (60 miles/ 96km) Williamsburg/Jamestown (103 miles/165km), and other VA attractions (Shenandoah National Park, Mount Vernon, Monticello, wineries and more).
