Welcome to the Wildland Lodge! Located in the city of Custer, this spacious 2 bedroom/1.5 bath home has a warm rustic vibe and lots of natural light. Enjoy the decks in warm weather; get the fireplace going when temperatures drop. Explore downtown on foot or take a short drive to many nearby sights. Owned by a local wildland firefighter, this home is the perfect spot to enjoy the beauty of the area and be a great home-base for your Black Hills adventures. UPSTAIRS: 1 bedroom with a queen bed (and a trundle bed option for a twin) with an attached half bathroom. Open loft has a twin size bed in a sleeping nook. This bedroom has a ceiling fan and wall unit A.C. for cooling. MAIN FLOOR: 1 bedroom with a queen bed. This bedroom has a ceiling fan and a wall unit A.C. for cooling. Full bathroom (with tub). The family room on the main floor has a wood-burning fireplace, Smart TV (connected to Netflix), and a handful of books and board games. The dining room has a nice table with room for four, the nearby breakfast bar can seat three more folks. The space is good for a meal with friends or for setting up your laptop to work. The dining room is adjacent to the kitchen and opens to the family room, so everyone can hang out together while eating and relaxing. The kitchen is well-equipped with plenty of dishes, typical appliances (fridge, freezer, oven, stovetop, dishwasher) and a bunch of helpful countertop appliances (slow cooker, Instant Pot, blender, coffee maker, microwave, toaster). There are cooking basics as far as spices and condiments and plenty of pots and pans. With a quick trip to the grocery store, you can cook just like you are home while at Wildland Lodge. DECK: The deck has furniture and a gas grill for guests to use! Guests at Wildland Lodge have access to the Main floor and upstairs of the house. They also have full use of both decks and two designated parking spots, additional parking as needed can be arranged in the driveway to accommodate large vehicles or trailers. As a wildland firefighter, I am in and out of town a lot during the summer months and may not always have mobile phone service when I am not in South Dakota. I do have folks in town ready and willing to help guests and my sister, Veronica, is available by phone, text, and email. The neighborhood is generally quiet with deer and turkeys passing through regularly. The house is centrally located 5 minutes from downtown Custer where there are numerous restaurants, shops, and stores. The public library is two blocks away as is the city pool. Most attractions in the Black Hills are a quick journey by car from Custer. Downtown Custer is an easy 5 to 10 minute walk from the house. There is plenty of parking at the house, two spots are dedicated for guests and there is additional parking available in the driveway if needed. Wildland Lodge has does have an occupied basement apartment where I live with its own private entrance. The staircase between the main floor and the basement apartment is locked and secured. I travel extensively for work during the summer so its likely I will not be around during your visit and you will have the place to yourself. There is a separate garage as well. I use the garage to store my personal items, so guests will not have access to this area.
