SPRINGHOUSE 1803 - UNIQUE HISTORIC HOME
If you are looking for a unique place to stay, come visit us at Springhouse 1803. Yes, there really is a spring under the house. After sitting empty for 20+ years, the house has been restored to be lived in again and it has maintained much of its colonial charm. The house has all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. NOT A PARTY HOUSE, OWNER IS ON SITE. If you're looking for a day that is blocked, you can inquiry if its available, see below for more details. FALL 2023 - We are currently scraping, power washing, sanding the exterior of the house between guests in preparation for a new paint job. So you'll see some bare wood until she is painted. UPDATE -got too cold to finish the outside paint job, painting will resume in the spring PLEASE NOTE - IF YOU HAVE MOBILITY ISSUES YOU DO NOT WANT TO STAY HERE. This is a historic colonial house with tight steep stairwells and a few low doorways and ceilings. Both stairwells have a corkscrew turn in them. I don’t recommend it for toddlers and young children as well, because of the stairs. There is no carbon monoxide detector because the house is run on a heat pump, there is no need. The bedrooms are upstairs and bathroom downstairs. The door between the date stone room and middle room is a curtain. THIS IS NOT A PARTY HOUSE, OWNER IS ON SITE. Owner also has dogs, if your uncomfortable with dogs you can let us know, but we have put up a temporary fence to keep the dogs away from the springhouse. If the house is ready, you can check in @ 3pm, please contact me to confirm if it will be ready or not if you wish to check in before 4pm Also there is a Keurig coffee maker and a drip coffee pot. I provide some complementary Keurig K cups, but if you want drip coffee you will need to provide your own coffee. BLOCKED DAYS - days at the beginning & end of a block might be available but only if you are willing to check in later in the evening. Reach out for more details. You have access to the entire house. The bathroom is on the first floor, bedrooms on the second floor. NOTE - if we have days of heavy rain the spring room will flood. The spring room will be closed if the room floods and will be closed for the winter. I will be available to any questions you might have. You can email or text me. I can also come down to the house If anything is needed. I do live on site. Close to interstates 70 & 81, the springhouse is located in a small community which sits just outside the city limits of Hagerstown. The city is literally just around the corner. Also around the corner are two shopping centers that would have everything you might need for your stay. We are also located within 2 miles of Kiwanis Park which is currently Washington County‘s only kayak/canoe launch ramp. It’s located on Antietam Creek. Since this is a small neighborhood, you will hear neighborhood noises. There is a cow pasture behind the house, do not touch the fence, one of the wires is electrified. Since we are located on the edge of Hagerstown, its within easy driving distance of many places of interest and interstates 70 & 81.
