With a working waterfront and small but vibrant downtown both easily within walking distance, the home is located in one of the nicest neighborhoods on the island. It is a quiet residential neighborhood consisting of private residences and small inns. Walk to the ferry terminal and take a short cruise out to the Cranberry Isles or just take a seat at Beal’s Lobster Pier and watch the boats motor in and out of the harbor. Bar Harbor is a short scenic twenty minute drive away but many prefer to take the free Acadia Explorer bus instead! COA parents and guests welcome! Southwest Harbor is a convenient and easy twenty minute drive to campus. Winter guests can witness the beauty of Acadia blanketed with snow! There are many winter activities nearby. Ice skate day or night at Chris Pond just outside of the downtown, cross country ski on the Acadia carriage roads. Southwest Harbor has more year round residents than most towns on the island. Sips is a welcoming cozy small restaurant just down the street that is usually bustling with a lunch crowd even during the off-season! End the day with a mug of cocoa or a glass of wine nestled by the toasty fireplace. Most visitors have a car. If you don’t want to drive at all... bike, hike or take the free Acadia Explorer bus system that operates mid June through Oct. Bus stops in front of house on request. There are airport shuttles from the island to Bangor International Airport (approx 1 hour away). I am a dog owner, love animals and my properties are pet friendly. That said, pets are welcome only within reason to maintain top quality accommodations. Please let us know your pets name(s), age(s) and any information that you feel that we should know in comments when making the reservation. All guests with pets are expected to demonstrate complete responsibility by monitoring and thoroughly cleaning up after pets both inside AND outside of the home. We strongly recommend crating pets if left unattended in the home. Any pet damage or excess cleaning required will be directly billed at the rate of $35 per hour after checkout or charged against security deposit. Normal cleaning fees are included in the nightly rates. Due to the extra detail normally required after pet stays, there is a nominal $35 fee which is allotted for an extra hour of cleaning.
