This spacious, historic home is a part of Wells' rich history and steps from shopping, dining and nature. Wells Reserve at Laudholm (0.6 mile), Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge (1 mile) and Drakes Island Beach (2 miles). Some Maine dining establishments are across the street - the Maine Diner and Big Daddy's Ice Cream. Features include a full stocked kitchen with 36” fridge, dishwasher, farm sink, and laundry. The Grey House is a spacious, two story home with four bedrooms and two baths. The second floor includes three bedrooms and one bathroom. The bathroom upstairs includes a cast iron claw foot tub, perfect for soaking or for getting the kids ready before bed! The three bedrooms each have names - The Lobster Room, The Octopuses Garden and The Garden Room. You'll be able to tell each by their décor. The first floor includes a master bedroom and bath, a dining room that seats eight comfortably, additional seating for four in the game room, a living room with a loveseat recliner and pullout couch with RokuTV, kitchen, laundry/mudroom and a cozy screened in porch with string lights. The game room opens up to a patio area including a firepit, seating for eight, a picnic table and a two burner propane grill. The backyard is also fenced to keep the kiddos secure. You'll have access to all areas of the house except the garage and shed. Nothing fun in there anyway! Just gardening tools. Keyed entry/access is from the front porch. We use self-check-in for all guests but make sure to touch base with them upfront as well as after their stay. We are only a text or phone call away if you need us. We love our neighborhood! It's close to everything we love to do in Wells - shop, eat and go to the beach! Steps from shopping (Coles Corner Gift and Remember the Maine), dining (The Maine Diner, Bull 'N Claw, The Bitter End, Litchfield's and Big Daddy's Ice Cream), and minutes from Wells Reserve, Rachel Carson and Drakes Island Beach (car, bike or walk). There are so many transportation options in Wells. Walking, biking or driving. Wells Reserve (0.6 mile), Rachel Carson (1 mile) and Drakes Island (2 miles) are all walkable or within biking distance, depending on your fitness level. Hannaford (3.3 miles) or the IGA Wells Market (1.7 miles) are also conveniently nearby. A note about Post Road and the Wells train station. This is included in another area of the house description but I wanted to be fully transparent, as I think some past guests may have missed it. Post Road is the "main drag" for Wells and really the whole southern Maine beaches area. There is a lot of activity on Post Road, especially in the summer season. The Wells train tracks run behind the house - a safe distance - but still close enough to disrupt a conversation should you be having one in the backyard when it passes. Most of my guests are unaffected by both of these, but some light sleepers have shared that the train has disrupted their sleep. Please consider this before booking as I want to ensure all of my guests have a great stay!
