Our plantation style Mākaha Hawaiian home is situated in the country in a quiet beach loop. The famous surfing beach (Mākaha Beach) is only a 2 minute drive. Evening strolls around the block are lovely and may take you to a beautiful tide pool great for snorkeling. We have a bunch of eateries and supermarkets nearby. Take advantage of the trade winds, or relax with the AC on. Our pot belly pig Crush lives on property in her own side of the yard. Food and water are provided for you to give Crush. **Our home is thoroughly cleaned and SANITIZED after every guest** Guests have access to the entire house and yard. We do not live on property while guests are here. The only room that will be locked off is the closet area in the wash room which holds cleaning supplies and other items. We also have a storage area in the back yard that we ask you not to touch. Cook on a gas stove with pots, pans, utensils, bowls, plates, and cups provided. Enjoy a full sized refrigerator (ice and water dispenser do NOT work). We offer a gas grill in the yard as well. We provide bath towels as well as beach towels. We also offer boogie boards and some snorkeling gear for you to use while here. Please return them for future guests to enjoy. There are plenty of pillows and blankets for your use. We do not replenish toiletries throughout your stay and we do not clean during your stay. Please treat our home with love and respect. Wash all sand and dirt/grass off your feet and things before entering our home. Please use the cleaning supplies provided to clean up any sand on the floors. We understand that accidents may happen and we ask that you inform us of any damage(s) right away. If you stain our furniture please try your best to clean it right away. We provide a washer/dryer free of charge. We will charge for stains and damage if not communicated to us prior. Guests can access our home on their own with codes given after booking. We offer an easy self check-in and out. Our check-in time policy, 3pm - 11pm can sometimes be flexible with the house being available earlier than 3pm. However, we do not encourage or allow guests to check-in after 11pm. The area is a bit dark and guests can get lost. We have had multiple issues with late check-ins and would like to avoid them in the future. Please communicate your flight times early with us so that we can make arrangements if necessary. Please refer back to any instructions given before calling. The front gate lock is a manual one and you will need to align the code from left to right with the line marks on the lock. The lockbox is hung around the front door knob and holds the key to the house (bottom lock only). I am quick to respond to any questions or issues. Please refer back to any instructions given first before reaching out. Also, please use your best judgement when calling in the late and early hours. I usually do not physically check guests in or out, but I will let you know before hand if I do. Waiʻanae is a rural side of O'ahu. You are in the country. The Waiʻanae coast has the most beautiful beaches and the least crowded. Be aware though, it is hot in Hawaii, but hotter on the West side. Take advantage of our trade winds when they’re around! Hawaii has a tropical climate which means we do have bugs. Flies are very common as well as cockroaches, so don’t be alarmed if you come across them. Ants are attracted to food, so try not to leave anything out or open. We try our best to keep bugs out of our home, but need your help when in our home by securing all food, washing dishes, emptying the sink of food, emptying the trash often, sweeping and cleaning up crumbs and food. Your commute to and from Waiʻanae will vary depending on the day, time, traffic, and road/lane closures. The same is true for anywhere in Hawaii. Please plan ahead and do your research. I am always happy to help. Hawaii ranks very high when it comes to traffic. We know that you're on vacation, but that doesn't mean traffic is... We highly encourage you to research Hawaii and our cities to make sure our home, area, and city fit your needs. While our home is in walking distance to Mākaha beach and some tide pools, a car is the best way to get to and from grocery stores, restaurants, shopping, and other areas in Hawaii. There’s also a 24 hour bus service that runs on our street. Walk 2 minutes to the corner! Plan ahead and use an APP such as WAZE for up to date arrival times and traffic. Mākaha is at the end of Waiʻanae. It's a beautiful escape from the city. Our home is in a quiet residential area, we respect our neighbors and we ask that you do as well. Please do not walk through our neighbors yards. Loud noises are strictly prohibited. Courtesy noise hours are from 8am - 9pm (HST). Parties are strictly prohibited. Please respect our rules and our neighborhood. Short term vacation rentals are not a popular item in Hawaii and we ask that you do not share that with any residents here, instead that you are friends of ours staying in our home.
