Peacock House at Hakipuu- 30 day rental

1 Bedroom, 1 Bath House + Outdoor Shower On 2 Acre Farm With Beach Access

The guesthouse is located on our family property, in the small special area known as Hakipu’u. We live in another home on the property, which includes our 2 acre flower and goldfish farm, RainGarden Ornamentals.

With the new law restricting vacation rentals on Oahu, we are currently only able to offer our place for a minimum booking of 30 days. Once new permits are available, we should be able to once again book shorter stays.

Walk down the lush garden path to look out at Chinaman’s Hat and Kaneohe Bay from our private beachfront. From the house you look out through trees and tropical landscape. The property is a bird lovers dream; we have two peacocks (pikake), guinea hens, ducks and other assorted feathered friends that roam the farm . Songbirds call, especially in the morning from nearby Monkeypod trees and a few jungle fowl roosters will most likely crow too. My favorite song is that of the shama trush, they will often perch nearby as if they are curious about you.

Our beachfront is not the best swimming beach but you can paddle out 5 minutes to a lovely sandy beach that provides a nice walk past “Secret Island” to Kualoa Beach Park. There is a flat bottom canoe at our beach for your use as well as two stand-up boards. The main reef is approximately 1 mile out providing a very large safe area for exploring. You can even paddle out to Chinaman’s Hat and hike to the top of the Island or enjoy snorkeling at patches of coral reef inside the Bay.

The single-family plantation home was built in the 1940's-my husband and I have enjoyed restoring and updating the house. The bedroom has a king size bed and large folding chair/chaise. In the side room, there is a large twin daybed (this can be used as a guest bed), dining table and large screen TV. The kitchen is open into the living room area which has lovely views of the garden. All the furniture was chosen with style as well as RELAXATION in mind. The kitchen is well equipped, but if you don't feel like cooking there are a few restaurants and lunch wagons nearby. Just down the road is "Origin Bakeshop" a tiny French bakery with delicious pastries and coffee, 'Waikane Store' with homemade local snacks and a few basic groceries, 'Waiahole Poi Factory' serves Hawaiian Plate Lunch; further down at Kahalu'u there is a food van selling Thai food too; Uncle Bobo's is a very casual restaurant just north in Ka'a'awa with very good food. The house has one bathroom with an antique cast iron tub. There is an outdoor hot water shower, next to the house, which is perfect for when you come up from the beach and even gazing up at the stars at night. The backyard is lush with various gardens, flower production areas and goldfish ponds. We will be happy to give you a tour of our production areas during your visit. It is the tropics, so we can have mosquitos (repellant provided) and you might see a few geckos (considered good luck by most)...if these things make you shutter, probably not the best location for you. Down at the beachfront is a covered structure with porch furniture, sink and gas grill…a great spot to enjoy the views, unwind and enjoy a cold drink or meal.

Upon arrival you will find an arrangement of fresh tropical flowers from our farm. Also wanting to 'show off' some other Hawaiian grown products; you will find an array of locally grown fruits, coffee, sugar and even North Shore grown chocolate to greet you.

We look forward to welcoming you to our guesthouse, 'E komo mai'!
