Aloha and e komo mai to our Ohia Guest House in beautiful Kailua-Kona. Ohia Guest House is your well equipped home away from home, it has everything you will need for a comfortable holiday on The Big Island. We live at a cooler elevation of 1000 feet with pleasant tropical breezes. Our property is on 1.5 acres of tropical landscaping. Ocean views abound, perfect for sunset watching and seeing real-time surf conditions. In the evenings enjoy stargazing and the sounds of the tropics. The Ohia Guest House is a separate building from the main house, the 2 structures sit beside each other, but there are no shared walls, they are separated by a breezeway (outside hallway). The guest house has its own private entrance and dedicated parking spots. It comfortably fits 4 people, there is a master bedroom (queen bed), living room (double futon), 1 full bath, a full kitchen, private laundry, and 2 lanai’s. The unit also has a BBQ and beach equipment. The kitchen is fully appointed (minus a dishwasher) set up for cooking, as well as a barbecue. There is a coffee station equipt with complimentary coffee, sugar, and creamer; a drip coffee machine; french press; and grinder. You have your own laundry room with a washer and dryer, and lots of beach equipment. Our property boasts many fruit trees, which we love to share, guests are welcome to pick fruit and explore the property. Please note we are smoke free, this includes all types of smoking and vaping. The unit is stocked with hand soap, dish soap, all purpose surface cleaner, and hand sanitizer. Guests can self check in and out. Of course we are available for any questions or help. I like to personally welcome new guests, if I’m home when you arrive I will come out for a quick hello, if not guests are welcome to self check in. The guest house will be left unlocked with a key on the kitchen counter, with a second key in a lockbox. We live beside the guest house in the main house and can answer any questions you have about Kona and The Big Island. We've lived here for 10 years and are very passionate about the island and love to share our knowledge!!!! Also, we have friendly pets: Scout (dog), Oreo & Bandit (cats), and Fluffy, Sprinkles, Bananas & Blackie (laying hens). I love our location, we live near the historic coffee village of Holualoa, we’re about 3-4 miles from the beautiful white sandy beach of Magic Sands and Kahaluu snorkel beach respectively, and about a 10 minute drive into Kailua-Kona. A rental car is recommended, but you can also use scooters, Uber, taxis and Speedi Shuttle to get around. There is no public transportation near us. As we live in a tropical climate bugs are a part of that, nothing is dangerous. We try to manage them with regular pest control, but sometimes they get inside, and of course are outside. We provide bug spray and citronella candles, and we are always available to help. Also, there are lots of tropical sounds from birds, bugs and frogs.
