We invite you to join us at Peaceful Farms. Enjoy our quiet 11.25 acres on the Hamakua Coast with our friendly sheep and goats . Relax in this spacious cottage with its own large kitchenette area, bathroom, and private lanai. Just minutes from Hilo town, Akaka Falls and local surfing. Waterfall views and views of Mauna Kea. Peaceful Farms is a top the Hakalau Gulch Reserve. We are in Lychee season during May and June. You can taste this amazing fruit right off one of our 70 Lychee Trees. The kitchenette has a large eating area equiped with a full size table and 4 chairs, a full size refrigerator, microwave/ toaster oven, 2 invection burners, and all manor of electrical cooking equipment. It is a homey little place to make and share a meal. If animals (sheep and goats) are in your heart, you can interact with many that are friendly as well as seasonal babies . You can also just sit on a bench or view from a path sheep and goats in their own pastoral environment. We allow our tamest animals out in the afternoon for a walk. Which you are welcome to participate in. Our quiet guest houses is a wonderful to place to just sit and relax or use as a jumping off point for your Hawaiian island adventure. We do live on the property and care for our animals daily. You may hear the occasional sound of sheep or goats nahing at feeding time. Guest interaction can be tailored to your needs. Our goal is to make sure your stay as comfortable as possible whether you are lounging on the farm or adventuring around the island. We are glad to help with setting up special occasions. The individual needs and desires of our guests are very important to us. Each vacation can be tailored to the unique interests of that person. Our guest can choose to have privacy and minimal interaction or socialize with the hosts. We are more than happy to share our knowledge of the Island with our guests. We are a more than hour a way from the lava impact areas, 70 or more miles from the activity of the volcano. This area is also has some of the cleanest air and filled with waterfalls and bueatiful coast lines. We recommend that if you want to move around the island that you have a rental car. You can get taxi service and Uber but they are expensive here on the big island. There is a bus service one mile down the hill, but it is a steep hike back up the hill especially if you have been out sightseeing. If you would like to stay with us a minimum 7 day we offer you a discount, as a small token of our appreciation. Please feel free to ask about our picking up grocery, and other conveniences we offer our guests. Hakalau is a farming community that is right next to Honomu a little tiny town. We are 15 miles outside of Hilo, the largest town in our area. In Hilo you can arrange Helicopter tours at the air port or arrange for Eco Adventures. We are 10 to 15 minutes from the famous Akaka Falls, a beautiful 200 foot tall waterfall park, Hawaii Tropical Botanical Gardens, Kolekole State Park, and Alii beach park, a local surfing beach. If adventure is what your looking for we have two zip lines one to the east and one to the west, neither more than a mile a way. From our location it is a scenic drive to most of beautiful West side beaches. These are just a few our favorite local spots.
