Vehicle isn't necessary if you stay here (but most prefer to have one to see sights). Reliable internet for those who need to work remotely. The decor features bright colors. Features 3 Bedrooms on upper level with toilet, kitchen & living room plus front lanai. Outlooks to the garden from bedrooms and lanai. 'Bali Style' shower tiled with marble and natural stone accessed via a private rear staircase. The shower area is secure and private and filled with plants and is semi open-air. Inside the home are bamboo and tile floors. Kitchen & bathroom. 2 Queen beds and a Twin bed - fold out twin bed in living room. Can accommodate up to 5 guests. This cottage also works perfectly for one or two guests. This cottage is in a garden in a downtown location. The compound is secured by a gate with a coded lock. The garden setting eliminates most but not all noise from the street. There is also 'night noise' from a small nocturnal tree frog. No Tobacco smoking allowed in the home or on the property. We try to assist guests who may have questions or want advice about places to eat, sites to see. It is up to our guests how much interaction they wish to have with us as hosts. Hilo has a 'retro vibe' that is charming to many who come here. Hilo has a more than average number of artists & creatives.There is a fusion of cultures and cuisines which make for some interesting small restaurants around town and there are several places to eat and listen to live music. Browsers might enjoy the thrift stores or vintage stores. The 'famous' Hilo Farmers Market is one block from this property. Hilo is a great place for guests to enjoy slowing down & it is a great base for those with a long 'bucket list' of sights on the East side of the island: lava viewing, stargazing, botanical garden, waterfalls, Waipio valley and more. Hilo is central to all of these sights. A bus will get you to many parts of the island but it's a slow ride. Uber drivers operate on the island as well as excellent and knowledgable taxi drivers who often provide tours.. There are bus tours to Mauna Kea mountain and tour guides available to do small, private and customized tours. If you are looking for suggestions, get in touch Because of our intimate garden setting it is important for guests to be respectful to keep noise to a minimum after 9:00 pm. For that reason this isn't a house for parties. It's rarely an issue but needs to be stated. 2 guests needing 2 beds? Our nightly rate is based on double occupancy.
