Snorkel, surf, beach comb, swim in the pool, hike, barbecue, or just relax and enjoy the endless views. KaluaKoi Resort, also known as Kepuhi Beach Resort is 20 miles from downtown on the West side of the island. There are 3 condo complexes on the west side along with scattered homes on 5 to 20 acres. Most of all this side of island is owned by a large ranch so it gives the feeling of being more safari-like with grasses, trees, wild turkeys, and abundance of deer and birds. Our complex is on a slight slope with grass leading down to ocean. Pool is situated feet from the ocean and offers amazing views and sunsets. Our condos are bungalow style, 8 to 12 units per building. Ours is an upstairs unit with full ocean views from condo. Built at the same time as the now empty Sheraton Lodge, ours were built as condos with full kitchens, with more of an apartment feel than a hotel. The grounds are green, tropical, clean, and with the Hawaiian winds we do not need air or heat. Our condo has a queen bed up in the loft with a queen-size futon couch in living room which can accommodate two other guests. Due to spiral staircase, small children are not recommended for safety reasons. You will have full access to anything in the condo. We have DVD's, books, music, maps, games, and books about exploring Molokai and the surrounding islands. Good lighting, comfortable seating, and everything you could ever need to cook your meals, sip your coffee, and watch the wild turkeys from your lanai. The pool has amazing ocean views and is steps from the beach. Free parking in front of condo, no assigned spaces. There are barbecue pits below the condo on the grassy slope for all to use. Wireless internet is available from our condo, password given with confirmation. Washer/Dryer in multiple spots on complex, uses quarters. Our section of condos were built with full kitchens, the other half as hotel rooms with a restaurant, conference rooms, etc. The Sheraton has been closed for over 15yrs now but the grounds, pool, parking, etc. are fully maintained and kept up. This gives a very quiet, peaceful complex with endless coves and beaches to explore with very few people. In the condo is binder full of all activities, restaurants, and places to visit on Molokai. There is a small convenient store on premises by the pool that carries food, snacks, souvenirs, swim suits, etc. The closest large grocery store is 5 miles up the hill to the town of Maunaloa. From the Ho'olehu airport there is Alamo car rental service at the airport. Check online for taxi or shuttle service that is available to West End or town. There is a free bus service MEO that covers 75% of island 2 times a day that leaves from the airport. Without a car, getting around is fairly limited. Molokai is known as the aloha Island. It is very low key, uncrowded, no stoplights, no malls, no 5 star restaurants. But what you will find is very friendly people, great local food, organic farms and produce, an amazing selection of California wines at the local Liquor store, solitude, and crystal clear waters with abundance of sea life. A true getaway from our busy and hectic lives we live.
