Hike in pristine rain forests, snorkel in an extinct volcano crater on the ocean, body and board surf riding, swim, sun, ride a bicycle 10,000 feet down a volcanic mountain-side, walk miles of beaches, sit by a waterfall, lie down on a red or black or golden sand beach, sip a refreshing beverage while watching the sun set over nearby islands. Two of the nicest beaches in Kihei are a short 4 to 5 minute walk away -- 2 blocks walk north to Cove Beach and Kalama Park for surfing and board rentals & lessons at Kalama Park. 2 blocks south is Charley Young Beach great for sunning and swimming, lots and lots of sand there. -- Grocery store-- is 4 blocks north. Many dining and snack places also across the street or down the block from those beaches. Sunny south facing lanai with peek-a-boo view of ocean from balcony rail to the west, see the sunrise over Haleakala to the east. Snorkel with the sea turtles year round. Whales arriving in December and breaching Dec-April in offshore waters. Note: must be able to walk up 2 flights of stairs to the third level. Your stay in Kihei is located on the sunniest part of the island of Maui. Lahaina fire was 35 miles away on the other side of the West Maui Mountains. Everything here is quite safe and untouched by fire or smoke. The accommodations in this unit ARE HOMEY-- not glizty. A nice modest & pleasant place to be your home while on Maui. Small, sunny, quiet condominium complex and island-comfy style. Swimming pool downstairs in your courtyard. Many eateries and grocery stores close by 4-6 blocks walking distance. Two of the island's nicest beaches-- 2 blocks south is a huge beach for sunning, swimming and snorkeling: Charley Young Beach/Kam I. The other beach -- Cove Beach and Kalama Park -- is 2 blocks north is for boarding and surfing: Board rentals and lessons there --- either one is only a 4-5 minute walk away. There is a great 2 mile walk along the oceanside south from Charley Young Beach-- 2 blocks away -- Sand beach and intermittently mostly level trails connecting 4 different beaches. Makes for a great and easily accessible and very walkable adventure. The Maui bus stops 1/2 block away can take you many places, though not everywhere on the island. For that you need a car. Lyft and Uber are here also. Otherwise you can walk to a lot from the condo-- Restaurants, snack shops, bakery, gelato shop, grocery stores all within 4 to7 block walking distance. Easy short walks to beaches, shopping, eating out. For longer explorations without need for a car--the public Maui Bus stops one block from my place. $2 for each ride segment. Bicycles accepted. Runs during daylight hours. The ocean and beaches are just 2 blocks away. North 2 blocks for surf board rental and lessons and Stand up paddle boards all at Kalama Park. 2 blocks south for great sunning and swimming at Charley Young Beach. Starting 2 blocks away at Charley Young Beach is a 2 mile walk south along the oceanside on sand and on mostly level trails --- a great and an easily accessible adventure. Many snack and eating places either direction across from those beaches. Easy walking distance to many snack places, dining out, groceries, etc. The public Maui Bus stops one block from my place. $2 for each ride segment. Bicycles accepted. Runs during daylight hours. Uber and Lyft on Maui also. To more broadly explore Maui, Bicycles can be rented 2 blocks north of your stay.
