Aloha! Welcome to my private master suite. Queen bed, private bathroom, with an ocean view. The room is connected to my house but has a separate entrance and shared backyard. 10 minute drive from downtown Kona close to shopping centers and 20 minutes from the airport. 2 miles from Safeway and Walmart. Cool elevation offers nice temperatures, although July-October can be a bit on the hot side. Fans provided but no air conditioning. Please read full description before booking. The master suite comes equipped with a mini fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, plates, silverware, and cups. There is also a grill in the yard guests are welcome to use. Coffee, towels, toiletries, and Big Island Guidebook provided. Guests have private entry through the back yard. Please keep in mind, if you are traveling with a lot of luggage, it will require some effort to get it around the house. It is not paved and you will be going through the yard on uneven terrain so you cannot just roll it right up to your room. If you have any sort of physical accessibility concerns this may not be the right place for you as it requires two sets of staircases to access. The backyard is shared with the owner and pets of the property. Guests MUST be okay with animals as there are two dogs, two cats, and a flock of chickens that live on the property. I have two beach chairs, cooler, and beach umbrella available if needed please just let me know in advance. Space is good for couples or solo travelers. This is a very old Hawaiian neighborhood and houses are close together. Please be respectful of noise levels as walls are thin and windows are always kept open for that island breeze! Access to master bedroom, bathroom, lanai, and yard. I can be available to you if I am not working. I am happy to answer any questions and provide you with tips on places to see while you are here. I have lived on island for over nine years and have spent much of my time exploring. There is a lot to see on this Big Island! TA-157-924-1472-01 GE-157-924-1472-02 I recommend you have a car rental to see the island as there is not much in terms of public transportation. The beaches of the big island are not like other Hawaiian Islands, although they are beautiful they are more spread out along the western coast and require a drive to get to. As a diver and lover of the ocean it has become increasingly disheartening for me to see how unaware visitors to our islands are of their impact on our sensitive ecosystems. As most are aware, the coral reefs around the world are struggling to survive in the face of climate change and other damaging sources. Here in Hawaii, our reefs are struggling to survive and one thing you can do as a visitor to reduce your impact on our fragile reef is simply to check the ingredients in your sunscreen. PLEASE try your hardest to find REEF SAFE sunscreen. With hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, it is crucial that the public become aware of how important this is. If you are a hiker and plan to visit the beautiful trails and parks of our island, please do some research and educate yourself about Rapid Ohia Death and what you can do to prevent spreading this deadly fungus. It is as simple as wiping down your shoes before and after hiking. Please help us preserve our coral reefs and beautiful Ohia trees. They are both vital to the health of our island ecosystems. If you are interested in learning to free dive my partner, Dylan Currier, is an instructor through FII. You can look up his profile on FII's website that includes already set class dates. If you are visiting the island and are interested in taking a free diving course you can contact him directly and try to set one up in accordance to your schedule. Mahalo!
