Aloha and welcome to the Fern Forest Estate Cottage! This bright, modern, hand crafted concept cottage with private lanai boasts 560 sq. feet of living space at a comfortable 2,500 feet of elevation with average temperatures of 76° during the day and 66° in the evening. Soak in serene surroundings of Ohia trees and ornamental plant-life flooded with the sound of birds singing in the morning. Relax or sleep on a comfortable couch. You will love staying in this super clean and comfortable Cottage. We are a gated, private and a quiet location tucked away on 3 square country acres; surrounded by beautiful flowers and green ferns in Hawaii's Fern Forest Estates subdivision. You may see wild pigs, pheasants, and owls on the drive in. The sleeping area includes a comfortable queen-sized bed and a large comfortable couch that can convert into a sleeping area using the adjacent ottoman for an extra 2 people to rest. I can provide an extra futon mattress upon request. Prepare your own meals with our fully equipped kitchen. We hope you enjoy the beautiful scenery as you arrive to our little slice of heaven here on the Big Island! Unfortunately, we are not handicapped equipped. Also, pets are not allowed or smoking inside the unit. All guests have access to and my stay in the private immediate area around the cottage. I recommend that guests go shopping for food to make you meals in our great kitchen area before arriving. The security gate requires a digital code for entry. Parking is next to the Cottage front entry door which also needs a code number. Easy self check-in. I am nearby on the property so at anytime contact Dennis for all inquiries or concerns. Please stay near the Cottage area and not move around the property. Mahalo We are about 10 miles to Volcano National Parks, I recommend going to Volcano Village Farmers Market located at the community center on Sundays at 6am to purchase fresh locally grown produce and crafts. 20 Minutes to Keaau has Organic farmers market local produce as well. There are some local gems such as Lemongrass Restaurant and Liquid Life Hawaii. I recommend Dimple Cheek Cafe in Mountain View for a nice dinner. 40 minutes will bring you into Downtown Hilo, which hosts an amazing farmers market, bay front dining, Japanese Gardens, beautiful black sand beaches such as Richardson Beach Park or Onekahakaha, and so much more! I would highly recommend renting a vehicle, as the bus here does not pick up on Hwy 11 very often once in the morning about 8am. However, if need be, there is a bus that goes directly past daily check this website for the latest information You will enjoy complimentary alkalized purified water and tea or fresh organic coffee that you can brew in the morning then relax drinking a cup on the back lanai as the birds are singing. You can move the furniture around to make the couch larger and to use it as an extra sleeping area for two more people. Be sure and bring a jacket to stay warm at this cooler elevation we are located at. On those cooler evenings you may choose to light the fireplace. Even though I will provide some firewood, I recommend that you purchase extra firewood at the Ace hardware or supermarket stores before arrival for your longer stay. Please note, we are not handicapped equipped .
