Description

Peaceful Pastoral Beauty on the slopes of Haleakala

Only 7 minutes above Makawao, 25 minutes to beaches, this cozy, quiet cottage is a sweet sanctuary at the foot of the mountain forest. We are close to great views, parks, restaurants and dining. You’ll the views and location, the outdoors space, and the ambiance. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers. This is a 2 acre property surrounded by great views and lots of peace and great energy.

The space

This is a quieter part of our beautiful island and while you can see the ocean, you are in the mountains. The weather can get cool in the mornings/evenings so some warmer clothes are recommended. This is a GREAT location for stargazing and for seeing the upcountry and visits to Haleakala. It is close to Makawao which is a quaint town with restaurants and cute shops. My favorite coffee shop is Sip Me with great organic juices and coffees!

Guest access

There is a private deck attached to the cottage and a large 2.3 acre fenced in property. There is a shared washer and dryer.

Interaction with guests

My husband and I reside on property and are available to help with any questions or concerns. We are a great resource for things to do around the area and my husband is very handy. Both of us are willing to help with anything you need!

Other things to note

The cottage does not have a full kitchen. It has a full sized refrigerator, a microwave, an excellent convection toaster oven, an electric hot plate and a small gas grill outside for cottage guest use only. The second bed in the cottage is a twin daybed. We also have an air mattress available upon request!

Both the kitchen and bathroom sinks drain into the yard to water the banana tree that is right outside the kitchen window. The tree thrives with soapy water to feed it! We have provided natural dish soap and hand soaps so please use only natural products in those sinks so our bananas remain very pure!

We are on an agricultural property and the grass grows so very fast! It can get muddy and the mud is red in color and hard to get out of carpets. Please remove your shoes before entering the cottage - Hawaiian style!

WE HAVE NOT INCLUDED the 13.41% Hawaii Transient Accommodations Tax because you would have to pay the AirBnB fee on that so to save you their fee WE WILL SEND YOU A SEPARATE INVOICE for the tax. PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS STATE LAW THAT WE ADD THE TAX...Sorry!

Our neighborhood is close to town yet you feel a world away. Olinda is known for tall eucalyptus trees that sway in the breeze and emit an amazing smell that brings peace and tranquility to the neighborhood. It is very dark at night so don't forget to put the outside light on before you leave for the day. The darkness is what makes this spot so great for stargazing!

In Makawao, my favorite restaurant is Makawao steak house and I love rodeo market or Sip Me for green juices and smoothies in the morning!

Getting around

There is on property parking along the fence of the 2 story Ohana. You will need a car to get around Maui. We are not near public transportation.
