Description

With a living room, a bedroom, and a bathroom on both floors, Treetops is just as well suited for 2 couples as it is for a family. Likewise, the home’s location in Ruidoso’s historic Upper Canyon neighborhood makes it perfectly situated for summer fun and winter sports alike.

You’ll feel right at home as soon as you step into the main floor’s living room. Decorated in serene neutrals, it’s furnished with plenty of comfortable seating so that everyone can hang out together, whether it’s to watch a movie on the flat-screen TV with cable or to enjoy après-ski drinks by the fireplace.

Treetops’ convenient location means there are plenty of restaurants nearby, from casual Mexican eateries to old-school steakhouses. But if you prefer to eat in, you’ll find the kitchen equipped with everything you need, from appliances to cookware to tableware. What’s more, the open layout lets you chat with friends or keep an eye on the kids while you work your culinary magic—you won’t feel shut away from all the fun.

The dining area has a table that can seat up to 6 people. There’s also a charming breakfast nook for 2. Or you might find yourselves gravitating to the sunroom, which is furnished with a table for 4. In summer you can enjoy breakfast while listening to hummingbirds greet the day; in winter you can savor dinner while looking at the snow-limned trees shimmering in the moonlight. Each floor also has an outdoor patio where you can savor a nightcap beneath the stars or even barbecue on the grill.

The main floor’s bedroom has a pampering queen-size bed, as does the bedroom downstairs. After a day on the go, you’ll relish relaxing in either room. Prop yourself up against the pillows and watch TV, surf the web (Treetops has free WiFi), read, or let the gentle breeze of the ceiling fan lull you to sleep. If you have additional guests, they can sleep in the downstairs living room: Its large couch converts into a bed for 2. Like the upstairs living room and the bedrooms, this room has its own TV.

Both bathrooms are outfitted to the same high standard as the rest of Treetops. Having a full bathroom for each bedroom is so convenient—you can indulge in a steamy shower without a line forming outside the door. Nor do you have to worry about bringing towels or linens from home; when you arrive you’ll find plenty of clean towels, the beds neatly made up, and extra bedding ready and waiting. In fact, you can pack especially light, as the house has its own washer and dryer.

As restful as Treetops is, you probably won’t be spending that much time at the house; there’s too much to see and do nearby. The art galleries and artisan shops of Sudderth Drive are less than 15 minutes away. So is Grindstone Lake and Trail System, where you can fish, boat, hike, ride mountain bikes and horses, and play disc golf; you might also see ospreys, mule deer, black bears, and elk while there. Just as close is Alto Lake and Recreation Area; when you’re not fishing—the lake is stocked with trout—you can explore the surrounding trails on foot, mountain bike, or horseback. Just a few minutes further are Billy the Kid Casino; Ruidoso Winter Park, where you can snow tube in winter and soar on a zip line year-round; and the Hubbard Museum of the American West. And in just 45 minutes you can drive to Ski Apache, the southernmost continually operating ski resort in the country. (Note that because you’re in ski country, during winter you may need a 4x4 or chains on a 2-wheel drive vehicle to access Treetops.)

Whether you’re visiting Ruidoso to ski, hike, fish, or check out the art scene, you’ll find Treetops the ideal home base. Book your stay today, and start planning your dream New Mexico vacation.
