Comfortable one bedroom house in the middle of all the North Shore beaches, less than one mile to Paia town in a quiet neighborhood off the road but close to everything. Great for family, honeymoon, sports vacations, get aways. Home away from home. This is an adorable, nearly 700 sq. ft., one bedroom, or 2 bedroom (see listing #11060221) house with high, vaulted ceilings and shiny wood floors. The house is a half block off Hana Highway, less than a mile from Paia town and in the middle of all North Shore Beaches. The nearest beach access is Tavares Beach, only a couple blocks away. We are on the mountain side of Hana Highway. The bedroom has a queen size bed and there is a full size futon/couch in the living area for additional sleeping space. There is a WINDOW A/C in the bedroom and another WINDOW A/C in the kitchen/living area with ceiling fans in all the rooms. The house is equipped with cable, wi-fi, DVD player and a full kitchen that has everything you need to feel right at home. There is an outdoor grill with a bistro set out front and another bistro set on the back porch where you can enjoy an afternoon mai tai or for dining al fresco. This house is great for a kite surf vacation, surf vacation or family fun vacation. If you are traveling with extended family or friends who want to be nearby, our Gingerbread House is on the same property, so everybody can be together. See listing: #192610. Our neighborhood and accommodations are for people who want to be away from the big resorts and feel like you are living in a real Maui neighborhood for a while. Your home away from home! #2017/0001 We are a permitted, certified vacation rental. You will have access to outdoor spaces for grilling and socializing. There is free parking and a shared laundry room with washers and dryers. Boogie boards, beach umbrellas and chairs, fins, yoga mats, etc. are available to our guests on a first come, first serve bases. Also, local shops rent gear and bicycles. If you are traveling with a small child, there are baby rental companies that deliver to us. Molly or Rhea, our on-site managers and Patti, our housekeeper, can assist you with anything that you might need. From Fodor's Best American Small Towns-June 2014. PAIA, HAWAII Population: 2,668 "It can be difficult to find remnants of authentic Hawaii behind the multitude of resorts, but this is one of the last holdouts. Located on Maui's northern coast just off Highway 36, Paia was founded as a sugarcane enclave and though the sugar mill closed in 2000, the town is as alive as ever. Boutiques featuring everything from high-end fashion to beachwear line the streets, and with some of the world's best windsurfing spots in the area, you're sure to find an opportunity to put your new gear to good use. Because it sits along the route to Hana, the town is pleasantly devoid of major resorts and offers a great stopping-off place for a few hours or a few days." Our notes: We are within one mile of all North Shore Beaches: Baldwin, Tavares, Paia Bay, Mama's Beach and Ho'okipa. We are on the mountain side of Hana Highway. Paia town has the best healthfood store on the island (with great prices, local produce, freshly baked goods and a hot food take away bar), lots of delicious restaurants (including the acclaimed Mama's Fish House), unique shops, gelato parlor, yoga studios, galleries and boutiques. Maui has taxis and a bus system. You can, also, rent a bike for local travel. We, however, highly recommend that you rent a car to see this beautiful island in it's entirety. We have a honda element that comes with each house for an extra charge. Ask us about our car when you book. This house can be rented as a 2 bedroom house. See Airbnb listing: #11060221 IMPORTANT TO NOTE: When the second bedroom is not rented, the door is dead bolted from both sides. Occasionally, we will allow visiting family or close friends to stay in the room, when it is not booked as a two bedroom. The room has it's own separate entrance and you will not see or hear any other guests. ALSO, VERY IMPORTANT!: This house does NOT have CENTRAL air conditioning. It has a window a/c unit in the bedroom and another in one of the kitchen/living area. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE BOOKING: We would like to disclose that our houses are in a tropical environment, If this is your first time visiting Hawaii, please know that insects and geckos may find their way into the house. They are a part of island living and we have learned to coexist with them, especially since they are not dangerous and are much more afraid of us than we should be of them. We strive to keep our houses very clean but this does not mean that the houses will always be insect free. Like other rentals in this neighborhood and unlike the huge resorts, time share properties and hotels in the tourist areas that get heavy doses of pesticides, have closed windows with central air conditioning, we use limited amounts of minimum impact, natural insecticides since we do not wish to poison ourselves, our guests or the environment. Please keep this in mind when considering booking with us.
