Our location therefore makes it very easy and convenient for you to explore the beautiful, interesting and exceptional town by foot day and night. On top of that, the lovely beach is only a few minutes walk away from us, which is absolutely wonderful for a swim, walk and sunset watching. Balcony House is run by a passionate team of both local Zanzibaris and a Danish woman. We all do our best to make your stay with us comfortable, enjoyable and memorable and we are there for you in-person and online both before and during your stay. Our place accommodate our guests' needs of privacy and space for relaxation while also providing the opportunity to socialize with other guests and staff. Besides our 11 rooms, our common areas includes several living/dining rooms, fully equipped kitchen also with washing machine, bathrooms (five of our rooms are with en-suite private bathrooms while six shares shares three common bathrooms), a beautiful balcony with lounge area, two furnished outside terraces and a rooftop terrace with ocean view. Each of our 11 bedrooms has their own unique details and is also different in terms of facilities, size, views and number/type of beds, which is reflected in their different rates. Our rooms are offered as short-term and long-term stays, so if you are planning to stay long-term (weeks or months – large discounts apply) feel free to contact us so we together can find the best solution for you. If you are curious to see the pictures and descriptions of each of these 11 rooms, they are of course all listed through our Airbnb profile. You are most welcome to book multiple rooms according to your preference and our availability and feel free to contact us for special requests – also if you don’t find availability of a given room for your dates, we might be able to still accommodate you, so just write to us and we will get back to you quickly. Additional photos and material can also be found through our social media accounts. A bit about cleaning: All common areas are cleaned everyday by our cleaning ladies. But please still remember to leave the common areas in a nice condition after use (for instance after cooking, eating, using the bathrooms etc.). If you stay more than 1-2 nights with us, you can get your room cleaned upon request depending on your needs - you can also always ask for new clean towels when needed. If you have clothes that you need to wash, you can use the washing machine in the kitchen free of charge and hang the wet clothes outside for drying. As mentioned previously, all of Stone Town can easily be reached by foot from Balcony House both day and night and we are located very close to some great breakfast and lunch cafés, rooftop bars and restaurants and of course the beach and ocean. We are always happy to provide you with nice tips for restaurants, walks, attractions and so on. We do also arrange several kinds of tours in and from Stone Town, which we will give you more information about upon your request. Arrival transfer/pickup: We offer car pickup service from the international and domestic airport in Zanzibar. The drive from the airport to our place takes around 15 minutes and costs $15 (if you are maximum four people). If you arrive by ferry we can arrange to meet you there and walk together to our place (20 minutes) or send a car pickup service. If you arrive directly from another place on the island, we can also arrange a car pickup for you if needed. If you find your way to Balcony House by your own, you will find it at Kenyatta Road (between Vuga Road and Shangani Street), but we will of course provide you with much more detailed directions when the booking is confirmed. Balcony House is located on Kenyatta Road just across the street from Lazziz bakery and a two minute walk away from the incredible beach perfect for swimming, a walk, sunset-watching and hangout-spots! Within a few minutes walk you also find some of the coolest rooftop cocktail bars in town overlooking the ocean, great restaurants, cosy cafés, Forodhani streetfood market and local shops. All of Stone Town can easily be reached by foot from Balcony House and we encourage our guests to go and explore its maze-like streets as they are full of architectural beauty, history and local culture. We offer different kinds of tours around Stone Town and Zanzibar at budget friendly rates, for instance trips to visit a local spice farm, swim with dolphins, snorkelling, Nakupanda sandbank, Prison Island, Jozani forest, Stone Town walking tour and many more – we will happily tell you more about the different tour options before or during your stay with us. When your booking is confirmed you will receive directions on how to find Balcony House. There is a public parking lot next to us if you come with your own/rented car and also possibility to park your bike or scooter in our building. For flight/ferry arrivals and departures to/from Zanzibar, we will happily arrange the transfer for you to/from Balcony House. You can easily access all of Stone Town by foot from Balcony House and we will be happy to provide you directions and tips. For destinations across the island outside of Stone Town, you can easily come around by taxi (we can assist you with arranging this) or by the charming and budget-friendly local Dala Dala busses.
