The Ceiba Apartment is one of only 3 units of Casa Akasha, a cute small tropical private property with pool only two blocks from the lagoon. The location is perfect both for a short visit of Bacalar or for a longer stay to get the real taste of Bacalar, since you can basically walk everywhere: to the lagoon (we have a great public spot just around the corner), the market (fresh veggies from the nearby towns!), the center (restaurants) and even a great Arts Center a couple of blocks away! Ceiba Apartment has one bedroom with a double bed and a lovely and comfortable hammock. The bathroom is spacious, the shower has hot water and great pressure, the kitchenette/working space is just perfect to prepare and cook easy meals. The design combines minimalism and Mexican craftsmanship, from its wood work to the cushions and macramé pieces, making the space perfect to relax and unwind. The common area, shared by only three units in total, features a little pool, sun beds and a big wooden table immersed in trees and plants. You can use the patio and the pool, together with the guests of the other two units. You can park your car for free on the street in front of the property since Bacalar is a very safe little town. I am sometimes on the property as a guest since this is our holiday home, but most of the time I live in Cozumel. I am still easily reachable via message/phone but my main help in Bacalar are Nilvia, Mirta and Jair. Casa Akasha is located just outside the town center, which makes it the perfect location since everything is very near but you still feel you are a little outside of the buzz! (Even though the buzz is still the buzz of a small village!) The neighbors are friendly (and friends), and always happy to help. There are shops half a block away to buy the basics, the market and the only big food shop is only a few blocks away. Walking or biking is the best in Bacalar and the lagoon is at a walking distance, only three minutes and you'll be in the best spots in the town of Bacalar! Also, you can or you can rent bikes, which we have available at a special price for our guests. We can also help you rent a kayak, a paddle, or we can organize a sup or a sail boat tour for you. And if you want to visit the furthest parts (like Los Rápidos, Xul-Ha, Cocaliyo, Cenote Azul) we provide the number of a our friend taxi driver, who can bring you anywhere (even on tours!) for very reasonable prices! Casa Akasha is a private holiday home, which we (Michela and Gerardo, two friends who fell in love with Bacalar) built with love and effort, and that we are happy to share with our guests. It is not perfect, but it is spotless clean and designed and furnished with love... It is actually very cute if you like our minimalistic, organic style. If you are looking for a extra luxurious place, this is not is. It is comfortable and lovely but simple. What makes it special is the location and the garden. We did not tear down a single tree and you can definitely feel it in our little peaceful oasis. Also, the neighbors have roosters. Like most people in Bacalar. Please, when you visit these towns remember that that is how people live here: having a rooster or other animals is normal. Insects here are normal as well, even though we do our best to make boundaries clear with them. Please remember YOU ARE VISITING A TROPICAL AREA! :)
