(currently they have limited hours) Charles Town has some history, the courthouse in the center of town is where they had the trial of John Brown. Charles Washington's house is a few blocks East of the courthouse. The county museum is at the Charles Town Library. The Old Opera house holds local productions. There are ghost tours available in town. Alfredo's Mediterranean Grille and Steakhouse on the east end of the historic district is recommended. Mi-Degallado or Ortega's Taco Shop for Mexican. Following Summit Point Road seven miles to Charles Town will put you on Washington Street, the main street through town. Shepherdstown is a quaint college town to browse the shops and has several good restaurants. Maria's Taqueria recommended. See Rumsey Monument! Harpers Ferry has an official NPS parking lot at the traffic light on Rt 340 - pay to enter park and ride bus downtown. Or you can just drive through the downtown and there is a chance of finding parking down by the train station. Also hiking trails around the town. In the middle of the county is Black Dog Coffee, recommended. They rent bikes there to ride on the bike path along RT 9.  C&O Canal NHP is great for walking or biking. Downtown Winchester has a pedestrian mall with multiple restaurants.
