Ellis Lake Resort is known for it's cute, cozy, authentic log cabin lodging built in 1939. We are a step back in time when life was simple. If you love being in nature then you will love us. We are a classic Northern Michigan experience. The Birch log cabin is one of our medium sized cabins. This cabin will comfortably accommodate 4 adults and 2 small children or 5 adults with its 2 queen beds and double futon. The combination living room/kitchen/bedroom allows for comfortable sleeping, plenty of relaxation in the living area along with a small fully stocked kitchenette with all the essentials. The remodeled bathroom with a shower makes way for additional space for your personal belongings. The Franklin wood stove as a nice addition for those cooler nights or just wanting to have a little romance. The Birch sits back farther on the property near the Doghouse and Elm cabins. Our year round cabin offers air conditioning for the hot summer days and nights and a gas furnace for warmth to take the chill of winter away. For your outdoor enjoyment you have your own private charcoal grill, picnic table and fire pit. From your cabin door it is just a short walk to our waterfront area on Ellis Lake or to our outdoor hot tub located in the woods beneath the pines and stars. We do allow up to 2 dogs in this cabin. The fee is $30/dog/night. This is an additional fee to be paid in the office prior to departure. Ellis Lake is a 50+ acre lake enjoyed by the nature lover as you can sit on the lovely deck in the early morning hours and often hear the call of the loons and see the swans, ducks and cranes when they are back for the season. During the day our guests enjoy taking a rowboat out to try their skills at fishing for pike, bass, perch or bluegill. Take a canoe or paddle boat out and paddle around the lake to look for the painted turtles that often sun themselves on the logs near the shoreline. A swim raft sits in the middle of the lake enticing you to take a dip or enjoy the warmth of the sun. In the evening, enjoy a campfire at the fire pit and take in the billions of stars that often reflect on the water as there are no lights to hinder this magnificent view. Family owned and operated, we live onsite and are available! We enjoy having our guests stop in the office when they are here to meet us. We are happy to help with recommendations or directions.
