Hello! We offer a private room and attached private bath in a turn of the century farmhouse. Visit the 5 wineries on our street, and 4 nearby breweries. If you like to hike, we're 2 miles from the free wooded trails at the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship, or the Appalachian Trail. 10 minutes from historic Harpers Ferry. 20 minutes from Shepherdstown, WV. 25 minutes from Frederick, MD. 30 minutes from Antietam Battlefield. 75 minutes from Washington DC. Private room with bathroom, walk-in shower (no bathtub). Queen size bed, dresser, bedside table, closet with hangers, small writing desk with outlet. Wall A/C. Large sunny windows. Guests have access to the covered porch. There's a table in the yard for eating or just enjoying the scenery. You can stroll along our stone wall and visit Piney Run creek. Bill or I or both will be on-site to check you in and out, and we're always reachable by phone/text. We love to hang out and talk, or we can give you privacy. We're happy to provide info and recommendations about nearby restaurants, wineries, breweries, hiking, historic sites, scenic country drives, and anything else. There are five wineries on our road, one is directly across the street. And then many more in a close radius. There are two local breweries less than 5 miles in either direction. Right up the street you can find: Extensive nature trails at the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship Harpers Ferry National Historical Park (https://www.nps.gov/hafe/planyourvisit/index.htm) The Harpers Ferry Adventure Center (inner tubing/rafting/ zipline) The Appalachian Trail 25 minutes to Frederick, MD. 30 minutes to Leesburg VA outlet shopping. 20 minutes to Charlestown WV casino and horse racing. There are no groceries, convenience stores, or restaurants within walking distance. There is no public transportation. Dulles Airport (IAD) is 50 minutes away, or 45 minutes on the Dulles toll road, which takes EZPass. If you intend to visit Washington DC, but would rather not to bring your car into the city, the Wiehle-Reston station on the Metro's Silver line is 50 minutes away, with paid parking. Harpers Ferry, WV and Brunswick, MD have MARC stations (local commuter train) with weekly service to Washington DC in the early morning and returning in the afternoon. See the Brunswick Schedule for more information at www.mta.maryland.gov The Amtrak Capitol Limited also stops at Harpers Ferry daily on it's way between Washington DC and Chicago. It is the country, so please watch your step, and be aware you may encounter insects, pollen, mud, birds singing in the early morning, and other natural things. Drive carefully, as deer and wildlife are around at all hours. There's one cat in the house, he is friendly.
