"Charra," Helen cabin by the Chattahoochee!
Charra is less than 2 miles from Helen and is very close to Unicoi State Park & Anna Ruby Falls. Helen was recently named the #1 tourist destination in Georgia, and is filled with unique shops and German restaurants. On the side of a mountain overlooking the Chattahoochee River, you can walk to Cool River Adventures & Tubing. Brasstown Bald Mountain is a short drive, and many hiking trails are close by. Charra is a recently renovated cabin that my family has owned since the 1980's. It is a split-level that sits on the side of a small mountain on a dirt & gravel road. Open the original windows in the big room, or sit on the porch to see & hear the rushing Chattahoochee River below. Some days you will even see folks fly fishing! The ice cold spring fed well water was recently tested, and is completely safe to use for cooking and tastes delicious! All three bedrooms have locally made log furniture, and the decor is an eclectic mix of antiques, unusual pieces and collectibles. The entire house will be available to our guests. Both upstairs queen bedrooms and the master have TV's, plus there is a large TV over the fireplace with a stove insert in the family room. The Master Suite on the main floor can have total privacy if desired, and there is also a private loo. All three bedrooms feature distinctive locally made log furniture. The kitchen features lots of counter space, a dishwasher, electric stove and an oven. A large antique mahogany table that seats 8 is nearby. Outside on the deck is a small table & chairs for 4, plus 2 rockers. Guests will be assigned an entrance door code. There is a notebook in the entrance hall, explaining all you need to know during your stay, plus we are available to answer phone calls & texts any time. Also, we have 2 security cameras in the parking area for your safety and for the safety of our cabin. Although the cabin is located right on unpaved Myra Branch Rd, it is a very private wooded area. You will pass only one other cabin before you get to Charra on Myra Branch. Just beyond Charra is a lovely pasture with two friendly horses, especially if you bring a few apples! It's also wonderful to take a walk or run on the paved road that's at the bottom of the hill, which follows the river's path. You can even step into the water in a few safe places, or try some fishing! Myra Branch Rd is very narrow and you have to drive carefully. It is much too narrow to park on the side of the road! Plan ahead so that you and your guests's cars will fit in the small parking area just in front of the cabin. 1) Parking is somewhat limited! Three cars are all that can fit in the parking area in front of the cabin. 2) Since we don't live in the Helen area, the housekeeper comes soon after you leave, washes the towels & linens, and thoroughly cleans the entire cabin. Therefore, there is a cleaning fee of $150.00.
