Beautiful two story new home in middle of tropical rain forest only 3 miles to entrance of Volcano National Park. Each story is a separate home with separate entrance. Newly built by recently retired Dr of Chiropractic Stephen Tarek who quietly lives upstairs. This is good for security and he is also available for directions and tips. Very quiet and peaceful. Nearest neighbors are 400 ft away through the forest (no barking dogs next door or roosters in the night). Entire first floor and all three acres of the property and beyond. There are two patios (lanai in Hawaiian) on each side of the home for the exclusive use of the first floor. There is short and rustic 5 min hiking trail on the land behind the home. I am invisible unless needed. After the initial check in guests should not be aware that I am living in the upstairs unit unless there are any questions or something is needed. Guests should feel that the home is their private place in the forest. Some guests don't realize how cool and rainy the area of the Volcano National Park can be compared to the rest of Hawaii. The elevation of the home is at 3200ft (1066m) and in a native Hawaiian rain forest. Hooded sweatshirts, warm socks, and rain parka can make the stay more comfortable. Many guests get online information that is old or posted from people that have only been on the island for a few days. So many guest arrive thinking that the green sand beach and the black sand beach (Punalu'u) in the southern part of the island are must see places. This is only if you are on the island more than 4 days. The northeast and north west part of the island is the most interesting and beautiful. "NOT TO MISS" Big Island drives and sites: Puna district southeast of Hilo. A special drive to the coast is to take Ophikau rd (has two names, also called Kamalii rd.) from Highway 130 to Highway 137 to coast. (turn right at 137 to go to Kahena Beach (most beautiful black sand beach on big big island) and Kalapana, left to go to Isaac Hale Park. This coast is a must see drive and is around 20 min from south to north without stopping ; Highway 250 from Waimea to Hawi (from Hawi drive to Pololu Valley overlook) ; Scenic Route/Old Mamalahoa Highway (Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden is on this beautiful road; Highway 160 ( Napoopoo rd to Kealakekua Bay, then south along coast, Puuhonua rd/Keala O Keawe rd to City of Refuge/Pu'uhounua National Park, then to Painted church and back to Highway 160; Hilo is a charming old Hawaii town. While there one can shop the quaint shops, eat (Cafe Pesto is my favorite) at many eateries and coffee shops, see Rainbow falls, drive or walk through Liliokalani Japanese Gardens/Coconut island. Public transportation on the island of Hawaii is extremely limited. A rent a car is necessary. During the winter holidays and summer the prices of rent a cars is very high and availability is limited. It is important to book these as soon as you make your home booking.
