The Big Island (Hawaii County) is very diverse in climate as it has 8 of 13 climates zones on the island. We are located at 2,000 feet elevation where we enjoy a nearly constant temperature from 60 degrees Fahrenheit to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. We are in the rain forest so expect to get rained on. Due to this amazing climate, we do not need a heater or A/C unit. They’ve “felt welcome and at home” while staying with us. Also that it is a “remote and quiet hideaway.” A “Sparkly clean, cozy suite with big bathroom and patio” and a “great value for the stay.” 📍Location: (approximate times, depending on time of day and traffic) Volcanoes National Park- 13 miles (23 minutes) Kea’au- 17 miles (30 minutes) Richardson Beach Park- 28 miles (50 minutes) Punalu’u Black Sand Beach- 41 miles (55 minutes) Hilo International Airport- 25 miles (45 minutes) Kona International Airport- 98 miles (2 hours) 🌺 My husband (Tom) and I are excited to share our little slice of paradise with you! We did not originally set out with the Airbnb goal in mind when we purchased this property. We moved to the Big Island about 5 years ago from Oklahoma and have been working everyday since to improve our 3 acres of beautiful Hawaiian land we reside on. When we began working on the property the forest was very dense surrounding the living structure which was less than desirable. We’ve made a lot of progress thus far however we still have continuing projects and more projects in the works for the future. 🏡 In addition to this unit, we also have a unit called “Forest Cabin with an Outdoor Shower.” If you’re looking for a glamping experience while still having regular amenities you would really enjoy this stay also. Guests have access to the private room/bathroom and porch. Guests are welcome to explore the property, we only ask that you refrain from going under the main house. Guests have access to the laundry room which is located directly across from the parking area. I will be available through out your stay here if you have any questions or need anything at all. Please don’t hesitate to reach out! I do respect your privacy, the amount of interaction between us is up to you. We have lived on the Big Island for nearly 5 years so we have some great recommendations for restaurants and activities that we would love to share with you! Uber and Lyft are difficult to get rides out from here. It is best if you have your own vehicle for transportation. We want your stay on the Big Island to be an amazing experience! That being said, we want to have full transparency with guest regarding our accommodations. This part will address some of the concerns we have received over the past. 1) 💦 We live in the rainforest and use catchment water for showering and doing dishes. Catchment means we collect rain water. We do not drink this water however we do provide you with fresh water that is good for drinking. 2) 🐾 We have pets, cats and dogs. You might be greeted by one or all during your stay. They are all very loving! Our pets are outdoor pets, we asked that guests do not let them in their room or the laundry room. 3) ⚠️ We live in a rural, agricultural area of the island with the last 2 miles of the commute to the property being on an unpaved road. Speed limit on the last 2 miles is 15mph anyways so please be aware and drive with Aloha. If you do not feel comfortable driving on a dirt/gravel road this might not be the place for you. A 4wheel drive is not required, a small car can make it just fine. 4) 🐸 Also with the agricultural area comes the beautiful sounds of nature… Coqui frogs, birds and other noises that you might not hear in town. The Big Island does not have any snakes to worry about however we do have mosquitoes so you may need to bring bug spray.
