Secluded and private, the Bullet Hole Cabin is close to nothing except nature. Located on the west side of Lake Koocanusa, in the West Kootenai, we sit in the midst of an Amish community, surrounded by the Kootenai National Forest. The fully-equipped cabin sits on our 10-acre parcel. Located 600' from the main house and 200' from our shop, we strive to maintain your privacy. Free internet is provided as well as an extensive Info Book in the cabin with ideas on day trips and things to do. The Bullet Hole Cabin was originally an Amish homesteader's cabin. It has been fully renovated. A split heat/AC system will keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Downstairs, you will find a living room with gas fireplace, a fully-equipped kitchen with range, microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher. All dishes are included as well as small appliances like a coffee maker, can opener, crockpot and griddle. Open the full glass door off the kitchen to the secluded back porch, where a gas grill, picnic table, two coolers for daytime excursions and two anti-gravity lounge chairs await you. Also downstairs is a private bedroom with a queen bed (with a memory foam mattress), a storage closet in the hallway with a washer & dryer, which also hides the on-demand hot water heater ~ so you won't run out of hot water. Find beach towels for the beach, sand toys for the kids, and fishing poles in the closet also. A full-size bathroom with a 6' long soaking tub is also on the main floor. Go up the stairs to the open loft, where a king size bed awaits you. This can be split into two twins, if desired. Also upstairs is a bedroom, with a double bed. Both upstairs bedrooms have standard mattresses. There is a second bathroom upstairs with a shower also. All linens are included, i.e., bedding and towels as well as kitchen linens. All paper products are included like toilet paper, trash bags, and kitchen wraps. All detergents are included like dishwasher tabs, dishwashing liquid, hand soap, soap in the shower area, and laundry detergent with dryer sheets. The kitchen is stocked with a variety of spices as well as flour, sugar, creamer, pancake mix, syrup, coffee, tea, and various condiments. Please note that we rent strictly to non-smokers only and do not allow pets. We have many guests who have severe allergies. Looking for real estate in the area? Ask me for info, as I'm a fully licensed realtor in Montana as well. Guests have the entire cabin while they are here as well as yard access. There's a badminton set in the cabin as well as a horseshoe pit set up for guests to enjoy. Since we adjoin the Kootenai National Forest on our northern border, they can hike anywhere there to their heart's content. It's a short less than 1 mile hike to the Canadian border from the cabin. If you need anything while you're here, please feel free to stop over at the main house, the shop, call, or just find us. We're here to help you enjoy your stay any way that we can. Beautiful mountains, beautiful scenery, beautiful area. The West Kootenai is also an Amish settlement, so you may see horses and buggies going down the road. Go for drives on Forest Service roads and look for moose, elk, deer, turkeys, mountain lions, bears and the like or just enjoy the beautiful scenery. A local swimming sandy beach provides a great place to relax on a hot summer day. Rent a pontoon boat and traverse Lake Koocanusa. Go hiking. Waterfalls. Libby Dam tour. Kootenai Falls. Swinging Bridge. Rock climbing. Endless opportunities in one of the most beautiful places in the US. There is no public transportation. (The closest red light is 75 miles away ...) If time permits, we snail mail an Info Pack to guests before their arrival, and if not, we email the main information. The Info Pack includes maps, ideas on Things to Do, what is provided in the cabin, directions, etc. When you arrive, there is an extensive Info Book in the cabin that gives you ideas for day trips, things to do, and exact directions on how to get there. Have you ever gone on vacation and thought, "I'm here! I'm here!", and then think, "What do I do now?" We totally eliminate that with our Info Book. Also, there's a little Amish store down the road that offers a Friday night buffet dinner during the late spring, summer, and early fall months. (Currently, only offering one Friday night meal per month, but attempting to reopen full-time.)A deal at $11.99 per person, it includes everything ... A salad, main dinner, drinks, and dessert. A buffet breakfast on Saturday morning at $9.00 includes unbelievably delicious homemade donuts (available Saturday morning only). If you've forgotten something, they do have food items available for purchase as well as hand-dipped ice cream, for that yummy treat. There is NO GAS available on this side of the lake. Make sure you fill up in the town of Eureka before you arrive.
