We are only a few steps away and across the street from Aki’s beach cove - which offers perfect swimming for all ages, snorkeling, turtle sightings, and spectacular sunsets! To comply with the current regulations on Oahu, the suite is rented and blocked for at least 30 days, regardless of the actual length of your booked stay. Message us with questions for options. When we first moved here, I wrote to a friend: “I absolutely love it here - it’s evening, we’ve just come back from watching yet another breathtaking sunset at our little beach - how can the sky turn into such an amazing colorful canvas - pink, bright orange, yellow, even purple streaked across the sky as if painted with a brush? The little sandy beach cove is right across the street from our house and it is wonderful. The cove opening makes it swimmable for even the younger kids, and we can swim out farther into the endless blue ocean if we feel like it. This evening the ocean was so calm, I was able to see so many fish while snorkeling, and even sea turtles swimming! There were also a few turtles resting in the sand up on shore - it’s such an amazing feeling to be able to share the beach with them. “After sunset we walked a few steps along the sandy path from the beach and crossed the street - and were back home, in our yard! The kids hosed off on the big front lawn and continued to play, while we started up the grill and preparing dinner… I took a moment to lay in the front yard in one of our hammocks that we have strung up under the enormous plumeria I was telling you about. It really is the biggest plumeria tree I’ve ever seen, filled with white flowers and offering such wonderful shade during the day. At night, slightly swaying in a hammock, I sometimes fall asleep while gazing up at the star filled sky and listening to the sound of the waves… I still can’t believe I actually live here. You should come and visit!“ And after almost 20 years of living here, I feel the same way - everything is still just as wondrous and beautiful! My friend did come, as have many other friends from all over the world who have visited and stayed with us. Our own children have grown, and no longer live here, but carry the love for their home in their hearts and enjoy coming back. My husband, I, and our family cat are always happy to see them! Makaha is located on the more remote west side of the Island of Oahu - where the most beautiful sandy beaches and the clearest of blue waters are to be found. It’s a ten minute drive to the remote, spectacular Yokohama Beach. From there you can hike to the westernmost tip of the Island, Ka’ena Point, which is a designated Natural Area Reserve to protect nesting Albatrosses and Hawaiian monk seals. We are only a few steps away from Aki’s beach across the street, and in 10 minutes walking distance to the famous Makaha beach and other large sandy beaches. Our guest house is spacious and comfortable. It sleeps two to four and additional sleeping accommodations for young children can be arranged. Free Wifi is available and a washer and dryer are on the property for use at your convenience. We are happy to share our knowledge on hikes, excursions, special places to visit, and restaurant recommendations with our guests if so desired - also spoken in Swiss, German, and Italian if needed - and to meet any requests we possibly can, to make your stay a pleasurable and memorable one.
