Welcome to your sunny, serene sanctuary amidst the hills, trees, rocks, birds and butterflies of Capri Point, Mwanza's most charming and sought-after neighbourhood. It is a cheerful and quirky 2-bedroom home designed to offer guests a tranquil place to rest. *We also provide fast, unlimited WiFi!* Please note that it can only be accessed via steps built into the natural rocky environment, so it is sadly unsuitable for those less able to walk. The home is protected by 2 big friendly dogs. This brand-new hideaway consists of 2 lovely, comfortable double bedrooms, a bright and welcoming living/dining area, a cute kitchen equipped with a stove, microwave, kettle, toaster, pots, pans etc. and one bathroom with a hot shower. There is also a large sofa that can be used as a bed. All the beautiful furniture and most of the décor is made by local artisans or thrifted from local stores. Enjoy the ample outside space surrounded by lush greenery and listen to the heartbeat of nature - often you can hear crickets singing and the unmistakable croak of bull frogs! You'll encounter playful hyrax in their kingdom of rocks (usually running away from you!) The bottom of the garden overlooks a scenic farm and boasts a clear view of the sparkling Lake Victoria beyond, and a chance to marvel at Mwanza's astounding geological formations - youll soon understand why its known as Rock City! The home is in a secure compound shared with two other kind and quiet households, up a solid flight of stairs amidst the rocks of Rock City. There are a couple of guard dogs (sweet-natured to those staying in the compound!) and a friendly night time security guard called Viktor, who is happy to help out You will access the compound via a magical flight of steps through rocks as you get a taste of how locals in Rock City access their houses on Mwanza's picturesque hills. These are lit up at night. We are sorry that these steps may make this home an unsuitable place to stay for travellers who are less able to walk/ climb stairs. We love meeting new people and we're happy to help guests get to know Mwanza. We're equally happy to give guests their space and just be around when needed! The house is situated a stone's throw away from popular hotels (with access to Wi-Fi and swimming) and a 10-15 minute walk and 5 minute drive to the town centre. A 10 minute ramble up the hill will bring you to the most magical sunset spot! We are happy to arrange a taxi to pick you up from the airport and you can pay the driver directly. If you like to walk, the town centre and nearby hotels and local hotspots are easily accessed on foot. If you're not too keen on walking, we can provide you with numbers for English-speaking taxi drivers or you can just jump on a boda boda aka motorbike taxi if you don't mind a little risk and a thrill. If you are here for a longer stay, it is worth downloading Bolt which is very much like Uber. It's worth saving numbers for reliable drivers so you don't have to explain where to pick you up every time. Fair warning, taxi drivers are not great with using maps online but if you say "naomba utumie ramani" they will try to use the map instead of expecting verbal instructions. Lastly, don't be afraid to ask us if you need help! We speak fluent Swahili and can explain to your driver where to go etc., just give one of us a call 😊 We provide a pocket WiFi modem. We load it up with about 5GB of data for stays shorter than 1 week and with 10GB for longer stays. After that, you can top it up independently using instructions we'll leave in the house.
