Uniquely shaped mountains rise vertically out of the pink desert sand, separating one dark mass from another in a magnificent desert landscape of strange breathtaking beauty ! The Bedouin people have lived in Wadi Rum and the surrounding area for centuries. The village of Rum has now grown as the only permanent settlement within the protected area, but there are still some Bedouin who still live far out in the desert. They move wherever the grass grows to provide food for their livestock. I am a Bedouin who grew up in the desert, but I now live in Wadi Rum in order for my children to go to school. My mother is also no longer nomadic and lives in her traditionnal Bedouin tent in the edges of the village. It is in walking distance from some of the most popular sites in Wadi Rum like the Nabatean temple, Lawrence Spring and the great Jabal Rum. We invite you to spend a night in my personal camp where my family used to live for 40 years. I spent all my childhood in this private desert area, I know every rocks and stories about this place. The respect of the traditional Bedouin way of life and the site's memory made me choose this place to establish my own camp. The camp is located in the middle of the Wadi rum protected area, where you can enjoy the sunset. The camp is 9 km from the village, from there you can admire breathtaking views of the desert with the changing colors of the mountains lighted by the late afternoon sun. When the night comes, you will see billions of stars shining over your head. We will make a fire, share food and stories. When it's time to sleep, you can choose a tent, or prefer a mattress under the milky way. This is a unique opportunity not only to sleep in the desert but also to learn about the traditions, culture and daily life of a Bedouin. Jeep tours, camel treks, hikes and rock climbing are also available at request. Out here in the desert life is fairly simple but at our camp you will still have access to private tent the tent are lock by the key with beds a clean bathroom and toilet and new in side your room, clean bed linen as well as clean pillows and blankets. The thing you will really like though is the food, dinner time is sacred here and we invite you to share with us a delicious meal, perhaps cooked in the Zarb (an oven beneath the desert sands!) or even a traditional Bedouin BBQ. Of course throughout your whole stay you will be accompanied by the gentle Bedouins. I'm sure you will find it easy and enjoy the Bedouin life. However, you also have the freedom to explore the area on your own if you desire. Our camp is located at the perfect sunset area. We also enjoy the big nature at the beautiful Wadi Rum desert as well as this is a important part of our life. Normally we pick up our guests from Wadi Rum village to our Bedouin camp and if they need any tour's we can arrange that for them. You can explore the area near the camp and also enjoy a little canyon close by.
