Our two-bedroom home built from natural island coral is positioned among the palm trees, just steps from one of the prettiest pristine beaches you'll ever see. The beach gradually extends -- coral free -- into the blue water. Further offshore are reefs that are perfect for fishing, scuba diving or snorkeling. One of the things which Cat Island is known for is it's bone fishing. Don't Miss It!! Our 2006 Ford Escape is available for rent to explore the island's blue holes, sea glass exploring and historic structures. We have a large cabana located on the beach for those times when you want to escape the heat. A perfect spot for watching the children or watching the setting sun. This home sleeps four, and has two bedrooms with king-size beds and one bath. Linens and towels are provided. The fully-equipped kitchen has a microwave, blender, toaster, coffee maker. and washing machine. The living room has a fireplace, radio, CD. TV and VCR, and a large selection of movies. The 42 x 17-foot patio has a gas BBQ and lounge chairs, and is perfect for sunbathing. Included with the house are 2 kayaks, perfect to take into our creek for bone fishing, sea turtle watching and snorkeling.Enjoy a large enclosed outdoor shower. This is an ideal holiday destination for couples or families. We have a caretaker who lives nearby and is available for questions and assistance. The north end of Cat Island is one of the most beautiful sites on the island. The people of the island are some of the nicest locals you will ever meet. Always smiling and laughing. We have a car available for rent. Our home is located directly on a beautiful beach, in a cove; very private and secluded. It is on the bay side of the island. Great for snorkeling, fishing and swimming. A cabana with lounge chairs are located on the shoreline, ideal for reading, napping, watching the children or the gorgeous setting sun which goes down over the horizon. A vacation on Cat Island is an escape from all things hectic. Sit under the cabana and let your troubles drift out to sea with the tides. The Bahamas are all about fun in the sun, and Cat Island sets the standards. Our home is always fully maintained and in excellent condition. It has 2 BR’s with King size beds, LR with fireplace, DR which seats 6, kitchen and a full bath. The bedrooms and living room open onto our 40x17 ft patio which overlooks the sea and beach. The patio has a Gas BBQ (gas supplied), lounge chairs and table. All amenities can be found in our home...coffee maker, microwave, blender, toaster, electric stove top, washing machine, pots, pans and linens, cassette/CD Player, TV/VCR and a large selection of movies. For our winter guests, we have a wood burning fireplace. A/C is not needed as there is always a tropical breeze blowing thru the screened doors and windows. All rooms have overhead fans. Cat Island is well known for its bone fishing. Deep sea fishing trips are available. There are a lot of great day trips to take as well. You can visit The Hermitage, which was built by Fr. Jerome and is located at the highest elevation in all the Bahamas...a must see. Bring your camera. There are also private caves and long ocean front beaches that you can explore. Two bicycles are included in the weekly house rental. If you want to go faster, we have a vehicle for rent at $375.00 per wk. No daily rentals. Please leave gas tank full at end of rental. Several local owned restaurants are a short drive from the house. A wonderful restaurant is a 10-minute ride away, called Da Smoke Pot. This local owned and operated restaurant is a perfect representation of the island. Warm friendly people, great home cooked food and live music. Call before arriving and Julian can pull together the rake and scrape band for you to enjoy. You can learn how to play the saw. We have several local food stores which carry many of the basics. Bring some specialty items from home and you can get most everything from the local stores. Liquor stores are also located throughout the island. We have 2 kayaks that are included in the home rental. Take them into our creek and watch sea turtles and sting ray swimming through the warm waters. Our caretaker Trevor can help you with anything you may need at the house or information on the island. If you’d like he can provision the house with some basic supplies prior to arrival. Bahamian and U.S. monies are equal. Some locations take credit cards but most transactions on the island are in cash. Travelers check are not accepted in most areas. We have reliable Wi-Fi in the house so that if needed you can work remotely. Cell phones work on the island as well. Check with your carrier about international plan. Many over $10 a day for unlimited international service. HOWEVER, we suggest you plan to “unplug” for the week. Rental Rates: $1,375 for 2 people and $200 per extra person per week. We ask for a 50% deposit to hold your date and the balance 3 weeks before you leave for Cat. A 60-day notice of cancellation is required. The Bahamian people are wonderful and friendly. Take Western Air to New Bight Cat Island. Our caretaker Trevor will transport you to/from the airport. Please pay him $60 cash each way. We try to remain flexible on check in/out times. If your flight plans require you to stay in Nassau, you can try Orange Hill Hotel or A Stone’s Throw. Both are near the airport. They are not lavish resorts, but they are not far from the airport and are clean and comfortable. Please note your departure time from Cat in order to connect to the States. Check in process at Nassau can be lengthy and you will have to transfer terminals.
