( For more information please visit google.com /view/agouticottage/home ) Our cosy Cabin is built out of materials found on and around the site: wood, bamboo, reeds and stones. It comprises - a bedroom with a comfortable bunk bed of one double mattress and one single mattress, - a living area with a sofa bed, a gas burner on a kitchen counter and an electric toaster oven. It is equipped with pots and pans, serving utensils, knives, Calabash bowls, an Italian coffee pot and almost any condiment you need: oil, salt, pepper, spice, … - a semi outdoor kitchen with wood fire for cooking, - a bathroom with shower and a separate toilet - and a large covered open area with bar, sitting and dining area. The sleeping room can accommodate 3 guests comfortably. An extra guest can be accommodated on the sofa bed in the living area. The Roots Cabin is located on the ridge of a slope overlooking the rivers which are a 2 minutes’ walk downhill through a bush trail under a bamboo canopy. The rivers are pure and fresh with small natural basins to enjoy, and you might even find a hot spring under a stone or behind a meander as you explore! The property is more than 1 acre wide and it is very quiet as it sits at the end of a small road. For our common water consumption, we use rain water and for drinking: a pristine spring water source flows nearby! There is a drive way to access the property from the small public road and parking spots at the entrance of the property. The cabin is quietly nestled at the bottom of the property. The family lives on the premises, about one hundred feet away from the cabin, so guests still have their privacy! And, at the same time, there is almost always someone on site to assist if needed… Agouti Cottage is accessible from the public road, but it is secluded, and it will give you a remote and peaceful feeling. It is located at the end of a small dead-end ditch road and there is literally no traffic to disturb you! It is a 10-minute walk (or 2-minute drive) to Wotten Waven, a small village known locally as the Wellness Village of the Caribbean! It is safe, quiet, and home to some of the friendliest people you will ever meet. Be sure to visit their mesmerizing natural hot pools: nestled along the main road, there are several soothing experiences to try out! We are conveniently located in the heart of the Roseau Valley known for its numerous natural attractions and famous hikes: the Trafalgar Falls, Middleham Falls, the Boiling Lake, Titou Gorge, etc... Practically anywhere in the Roseau Valley can be reached within a 5 – 20 minute drive. Roseau, the capital, is less than 30 minutes away...from there one can easily access the beaches and everything else the island has to offer! There are small local buses leaving the village for the capital (Roseau) several times during week days. Car rentals are easy to organize (attention: left hand drive and 4wheel drive required!) As certified Tour Guides, we will be happy to give you tips on what to do and how to get around on the island as well as to guide you if you wish to undertake tours or hikes.
