Lovely, spacious house with lofted bedroom and two closed sleeping spaces. Beautiful view, porch and patio. A rural, country escape with all the convenience of a modern home 15 minutes from the city of Rutland. Relax, unwind, gaze out at the lovely view, eat a meal outside, cozy up by the fire. This home is a labor of love, very peaceful with lots of handmade details. The main floor of the home includes a living space, dining space, bedroom with junior twin bunk beds, three-quarter bath, and pantry. A hatch door opens to a steep stair (ship's ladder) to the walkout basement. The basement has another bedroom with a full bed, another living space with a projector for entertainment (BYOcomputer). There is no television in the house. The basement has a bathroom with a deep galvanized soaking tub (no shower), and a washer/dryer. Two queen blow up mattresses are also available. Above a portion of the main floor is an open lofted bedroom with a queen bed and half bath. The house also a porch off the main floor and a patio off the basement. The house sits up on a hill with a beautiful view and always enough breeze that we rarely experience any bugs. Huge lawn with vegetable garden. During the summer, we mow a series of walking paths into the fields on the property. There are wildflowers everywhere. During the winter, the home is heated by two pellet stoves that guests will have to fill periodically (by pouring a 40 lb bag of pellets into a hopper at the back of the stove about once a day.) You will have access to the entire home. We will be available by phone, text or FaceTime whenever needed. We may be available upon arrival to show guests around and answer any questions. Amtrak runs trains to Rutland from all over. There is one train daily from New York City, for example, that takes just under 5 hours. Once here, you will need a car. There are two steep staircases in the house: a narrow spiral stair leading up the the loft and a steep ship's ladder down to the basement. There is a hatch to the basement that must remain closed except when in use if there are children (or anyone else at risk of falling) in the home. We can provide a fabric gate to block the spiral stair if needed (we have two toddlers ourselves). A Note on Vermont Taxes: Under guidance issued by the Vermont Department of Taxes, hosts who advertise through an online platform that has an agreement with the Department to collect and remit tax, like Airbnb, should post the tax account number used by that platform in listings on that platform. Airbnb’s Vermont Meals and Rooms Tax ID number is MRT-10126712. The law also requires Airbnb hosts to display a copy of the meals and rooms tax certificate in their listings.
