Mountain Retreat, Afgan Lodge, Kashmir Point
Completely renovated in a modern style, with minimalist, Scandinavian style furniture, this property with a spectacular view is located at Kashmir Point Murree, near Water Tanks. Kashmir Point is an entertainment hub with Food Stalls, the Safari Train, horse riding and an amusement park for kids. A pleasant stroll uphill takes you to Governor's House, or walk down hill to the hustle and bustle of the Mall. Hiking the scenic mountains is always an option. An old family home from the 1960s, hugging the edge of Kashmir Point, Mountain Retreat affords spectacular views from almost every room. It's best feature, however, is the terrace, where one can read, listen to music or just relax in privacy and perhaps explore the delights of a Bar B Q under a starry night. Three flights of stairs (about 50 steps) from the home lead to the off-street parking. This may be difficult for the elderly or infirm but for everyone else, a momentary pause and a few deep breaths of the fresh, pine-scented mountain sets everything right. Portable natural gas heaters warm the interior during the winter months of November through February. A portable fan is also available for any unseasonably hot summer days in June. About 1,500 yards of open ground below the home is available for use by guests and /or their pets Guests have complete privacy in the home but an attendant is just a phone call away. Kashmir Point is the most exclusive area in Murree. Situated at an elevation of 6,500 feet, on clear days, one can see the snow-covered mountains of Kashmir - hence the name. The walk around Governors House is one of the best features of the neighborhood. However, the Safari Train, which also goes around Governors House,is a fun alternative to a walk, especially for younger kids and the old and infirm. The Food Court next to the Safari Train Station is very popular for affordable meals and has a huge selection of stalls / restaurants. About 5 minutes down-hill from the Food Court is an amusement park with a multitude of rides for children of all ages. Mall Road is a 15 minute walk further down-hill, or a 3 minute drive for those who prefer not to walk. The best way to get around, perhaps even to Mall Road, is to walk, as parking gets to be a hassle during the Summer Season. To Doonga Gali Pipe-line walk (highly recommend), Ayubia and Nathia, it takes about an hour plus, depending on traffic. Bhurban is about a 20 minute drive, but again, it may take longer, depending on traffic. Guests staying during the monsoons will find some entertainment in indoor games like Carrom Board, Ludo, and Playing cards etc
