Our modestly-appointed, but spacious, villa is right on the beach and within a short walk of the centre of Treasure Beach village. Cacona has four huge decks, a fantastic outdoor hot-water shower, AC in all bedrooms, washing machine, wifi, additional private decks for upper bedrooms, and our great low base rate for 2 guests (there are additional charges for each additional guest). It's not fancy, but our place is good for groups, friends, extended families, and families with older kids. Cacona is a unique cross between a luxury villa and a bare-bones beach shack. The villa is a very large three story concrete structure with a gorgeous rooftop sun-deck. Three of the bedrooms are on the top floor, each with private decks; the main floor has a kitchen, dining room and large living room (complete with indoor/outdoor fish pond), as well as a huge deck; and the basement has three bedrooms that are comfortable but dark because they are below ground level. All bedrooms have air conditioning and there is excellent Wifi signal throughout the villa and as well as on the decks. It is not recommended for guests with young children, as you will have to keep a close eye on them as we are close to the water, with high decks, and open stairs and railings. Note: There is also a separate Beach Apartment attached to the villa at the front, with its own kitchen and separate entrance which is another AirBnB listing. This means that if you have a really large group, you can also rent the outside Beach Apartment for additional space, but, it also means that there may be one or two other guests on the property at the same time. Guests who rent the full villa have access to the entire villa, but there is a charge for each additional guest after the first two, so please book accurately with your numbers. Thank you! The owners do not live on property - Karla lives about a twenty-minute drive up the hill in a town called Southfield, and Mott teaches school in Toronto, Canada. Nadine should be able to help with any issues, but we provide guests with contact information to reach the owners if needed. Treasure Beach is a gorgeous, relaxed, easy-going community, focussing on sustainable tourism, fishing and farming. Cacona is a leisurely 5-minute saunter to the local Kingfisher Plaza, at the corner of Old Wharf road and the main road into Treasure Beach, where it is easy to get a local taxi (and have a cold beer at Nanny's Bar while you wait!). It is also possible to hire private taxis who will pick you up right at the villa. For the adventurous, you can hire a sea captain to pick you up at the beach and take you out in a fishing boat ("canoe") to local beaches, up the Black River, sight-seeing along the coast, or fishing. One of the great advantages of staying in Treasure Beach is that because of the strong afternoon sea-breeze and dry climate, there are very few mosquitoes (certainly compared to the rest of Jamaica!). That being said, all rooms have mosquito meshing (just in case) and it is advisable to wear long pants and long sleeves around dusk when the mosquitoes can sometimes come out. COVID-19 antigen testing in Treasure Beach: Antigen (rapid) tests are now available at the Sport’s Park right here in Treasure Beach! The hours for testing are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Each appointment is spaced 10 minutes apart and results are provided within 10 minutes. The cost is $9,500 JA or $75 US to be paid in cash upon arrival or you can pay via credit card at Jakes prior to your appointment. There is a 5% service charge for all credit card transactions.
