The Plantation House is set in 3 acres of tropical gardens, with stunning panoramic views of the Caribbean sea, and the neighbouring French Island of Guadeloupe and the Iles des Saintes. To the rear of the property is a backdrop of tropical clad mountains. Sitting on my outside benches with a rum punch watching the sun drop into the ocean is one of life's great pleasures, with only the sound of the distant sea surf and birds tweeting. The house boasts 2 airy en-suite bedrooms, a large open plan kitchen/ dining /lounge area, with stunning cathedral ceilings throughout and solid maple wood parquet flooring in all the rooms. From this living area there are lovely views of the Caribbean Sea and distant islands The house is within a five minute drive, or a scenic walk to the most stunning beaches on the island, and Portsmouth is a mere 10 minute drive, where you can buy most of the basics that you might need or try some of the local restaurants. I would recommend hiring a car either at the airport or in Portsmouth. Failing that there are mini buses that cover most of Dominica at modest fixed prices, though mostly just during the day. Your host Maurice Chaplais or the manager Charles will be available for any help during your stay. Utter peace and tranquility is the order of the day with only the distant sound of the sea or the chirping of the birds to contend with. Within a short drive is the local town of Portsmouth which has many restaurants and shops, and is situated around a beautiful sandy bay. In fact, this part of Dominica has the best beaches of the whole island, and they are all safe for swimming. I would recommend renting a car either at Douglas-Charles airport or in Portsmouth. The house is a convenient 30 minute drive from Douglas-Charles airport. You can rent a car at the airport or take a taxi to the house.
