This place has a very special, magical energy which will restore your body and soul. Your experience begins on the journey to our remote village of 16 houses. The road is beautiful, romantic and at times it takes your breath away. You will have some of the best awake and sleeping hours of your life at our brand new house. And it is proven to awaken the creativity - it has already produced several great pieces of art and music. So come and Enjoy! News flash! We got a new beautiful barrel sauna! See photo. Use of sauna is not included in the price of the house. Imagine being in one of the most beautiful nature places on Earth, totally away from the noises and sounds of humanity, yet living at the brand new, modern, comfortable and very romantic home. Our eco friendly chalet is a love child build from only natural materials (all wood in the house is pine and the deck (veranda) is from larch trees. The wood in the house is not treated with any chemical materials and doors and windows with minimal bio oils. Up here you will hardly hear any human sounds, only animals, birds, insects and wind whispering in the trees. Guests have access to everything on the property and around the village. All the animals around the village (mainly cows, horses, pigs and dogs) are all very friendly. Our neighbors, Zina's family, just below, have become our family. There have cows and make cheese, matsoni (Georgian style yogurt), nadugi (cottage cheese) and all kinds of milk based product. They also have herb and vegetable garden and make the best hachapuri and chahliani on the wood fire stove. You have an option of eating there (some people come from far away just to have a lunch or dinner there) or they can make some stuff and bring to you. Ask me about the details. For the most of the year, I live very far away but I have trusted, great people on the team in Georgia, so I coordinate everything and they take care of your stay. We also have above mentioned wonderful neighbors just down the hill from us who are always happy to help with anything you need. We just finished the house this Summer and already hosted several families and groups and everything went very smoothly. Our chalet is on the edge of the beautiful ancient village Patara Mitarbi with lots of picturesque places to walk to - through the fields, into the forests, to meadows or you can walk down to two mountain rivers. The village's history dates back to the 16th century - there is an old church and the cemetery hidden by big trees nearby. Back in the Soviet times it used to have about 65 houses, school, library, medical center and even a tiny tent to see movies but over the years most residents left and now there are only 16 houses left where people live year round. One river, Gudjurula, is further away and down the steep hill. It is deep enough in some places so you can dip in it which is very nice on a hot, Summer day. The other one, Mitarbula, is close - about 500 meters, down the same hill that you drive up to get to our place. It is less deep but kids still love to walk in it, playing with the rocks. Ask me for detailed directions. If you are staying for more than a few days and start missing the civilization - lively ski town, Bakuriani, is only about 7 km away. If you are a strong walker - you can walk there or drive or we can arrange a quadro cycle tour which is super fun. Bakuriani's high season is Winter as it's one of the two main ski resorts in Georgia (more family friendly one in comparison to Gudauri ski resort. ) In the Summer lots of visitors come to enjoy famously healing air as well as some good restaurants, bars and several entertainment parks for kids and horseback riding. We also found a good, new Spa at Chrystal hotel, where you can spend a day swimming, sitting in sauna and jacuzzi or getting premium massages. By western standards, prices are very good there. And of course Borjomi is a great, old town with one of the most beautiful parks in the world. Besides tasting of the famous Borjomi water there, you would enjoy swimming in hot springs in the depths of the park, many fun rides for kids, ferris wheel as well as food there. Borjomi is about 20 km away and it's on the way to our village so if you are coming for a short time, you should see it on your way or if you are staying at our place longer, it's a nice day trip. The list of things to see in the area is very long (old monastery, kukushka train, churches and castles) , so let me know what you are interested in and I will gladly provide recommendations. The reason why this place managed to stay so pure is because the road to it is not an ordinary one. You need a 4x4 to get up here and it's not for the faint of heart but once you get to our house - you will be very happy you did. I can arrange transportation for you (door to door service from any place in Georgia or you can drive your regular car to the end of the good road and I can arrange a driver to pick you up and bring to our place. Alternatively, if you have a 4x4 car and want to drive yourself there - we can explain how to find it on your own. In the winter the road is actually better as it gets cleared up after a serious snow fall and it is smoother than in the summer thanks to the snow. It usually gets cleared up the next day or two after the snowfall. To get around the village - walk a lot and if you want to visit nearby town of Bakurian or further away Tabatskuri lake - we can arrange a quadro cycle tour for you. - The Road to the village - as described in detail "Getting Around section below" the road has not been seriously repaired since the Soviet times, but if you have (or can arrange) a 4x4 - you will be totally fine because there is a lot of rock in the ground so even after the strong rains, the road has a solid bottom. In the winter the road is actually better as it gets cleared up after a serious snow fall and it is smoother than in the summer thanks to the snow. It usually gets cleared up the next day or two after the snowfall. - sometimes the electricity goes out for few hours. It does not happen often, but just so you know. We have candles on hand. - It's an Eco house in a very remote area with water coming from the well and a very well-made but natural sewer system so we ask and expect you to treat our house as you would your own or even better. Repairing things is very difficult due to its remoteness. - You are in the wild nature here so in the summer there are lots of insects (all kinds of flies, grasshoppers, beatles, etc. Most of them don't bother you or bite but you might get some small bits from some. Nothing serious. The good news - almost no mosquitos there!:) So, in the summer months, you've got to be cool with lots of insects outside and inside the house (they all fall asleep at night:) - we have 2 dogs that belongs to our neighbors (Zina's family) that have adopted us and like to come by the house. One is a big, white, wise one called Barsik and the other one is a small brown sweetie, Kara. Both dogs are very friendly and tolerant to kids and would never hurt a human being. However, Barsik is not very nice to other dogs so that's why we say absolutely no pets. - We encourage our guests to eat at our neighbors as they grow most of their own food, have a great set up of a long table in the garden as well as a table inside if the weather is bad. You can experience the freshest, tastiest food there and don't have to wash the dishes:). Let me know and I will send you the details. - our house has no WiFi. On purpose:) You will be able to unplug and that's part of the beauty of the experience. However, if you must, the cell phone reception is great there so you can give out wifi to your laptop or Ipad via Hotspot. Also, we have a good modem there, so you can input your SIM with unlimited internet (easily purchased at any Magdi store) and feed it to all your devices that way. Ask me if you need to use it.
