A golden sand haven on the south coast of the Isle of Wight, Sandown offers a wonderful promenade, a beach which stretches for miles and there is plenty for families to do. This part of the coast is popular for kitesurfing and other watersports. It has a great selection of attractions, including a Zoo housed in an old fort and a purpose built interactive Dinosaur Museum. For train enthusiasts, five miles away is Haven Street Steam Railway where you can look around the museum and enjoy a silver service dining experience whilst taking a ride on the train. From Sandown, you can explore South Wight and West Wight. It's a great location to get around the south and west parts of the island. In the south, it takes less than half an hour to drive to Shanklin and the journey to Ventnor isn't much further. Just north of Sandown, you'll find Yaverland where the beaches are slightly quieter. Further inland is Brading and more to the west you can visit the harbour villages of Bembridge, Seaview and St Helens.
