Brigadoon--Magical 3BR Farmhouse in Woodstock
Named after Brigadoon, an enchanted place where life is simpler, untouched by worries of the world. Our peaceful, fully renovated 1850s farmhouse is 2 minutes from Woodstock's center. The house is warm in winter, cool in summer, full of light and open space--uncluttered, clean, and serene. Walking distance from breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, food shopping, and live music. A 7-acre meadow offers beautiful views. Perfect for families or couples seeking a magical country experience. Kitchen is fully furnished with dishwasher and gas stove and oven. Washer/drier. Free wifi. Cable and Showtime/HBO included, with big flat-screen TV in living room with a fireplace. Weber gas grill for outdoor cooking, a bluestone patio for al fresco dining, and a firepit for hanging out around the campfire and roasting marshmallows. All the beds are queens, and all the bedrooms are private. Cool A/C in the summer. The house is well-insulated and toasty warm in the winter. One of the best features of Brigadoon is the wraparound porch--where you can enjoy coffee and the paper in the morning, or sit on the porch swing at night and enjoy the stars. Owner lives around the corner, so is available to answer any questions or help with any concerns during guests' stay. The house sits way back from Rt 212--the main road going through Woodstock, also known as Tinker Street. There are no residential neighbors, so it's quiet at night. The Little Bear (Chinese streamside dining) is a 10 minute walk from the house. The Cub Market (gourmet deli and store) is .25 miles one way, and Sunfrost Farms Market (vegetable market with meat and fish and eat-in cafe) is .25 miles the other. The Farmhouse is a 2-minute drive from the heart of town. You can also walk or bike to town. The Farmhouse is right on the Adirondack Trailways bus route to and from NYC if you don't have a car. You can also rent bicycles from Overlook Bikes in town. Unlike some listings where you show up and are "surprised" by something unpleasant such as a neighbor next-door or traffic noise or inaccurate photos, ours routinely gets this response from guests: "More beautiful, more magical than the photos or descriptions depict."
