Potrero chico climbing walls, hiking, trekking, mountain bike, road bike.. We have opened our property for climbers. It is a lovely, comfortable quinta inside the canyon just 300 meters walk to the walls (about 7 minutes walk). We have developed this area for the last 15 years with simple consideration in mind; respect for nature. No trees have been cut down and wild life has been preserved. This place is amazing for resting and relaxing after a hard day climb, or simply enjoy a full day rest. We used to be climbers, and one of the things we were always looking for was a place to rest after a hard day climbing. We had a picture in our mind of how such place should look like; full of trees, grass, quiet and close to the walls. A place where one could not just sleep but also where to relax on a rest day. Lying in a hammock on the shade and enjoy reading a book, a cold beverage or just nap. We have developed this area for the last 10 years with a simple consideration in mind; respect for nature and we think our goal was achieved, and proudly believe we have done so, with the most critical consideration of all; respect for the local fauna and flora. The cabin is arranged as follows; -Kitchenette. It has a two burner stove, dinning table, chairs, basic cooking utensils, pots and pans. The sink has just cold water. Although we are off-grid, we do have a 7 sq ft fridge. The water is spring water, safe to prepare meals and to drink. - We have bunk beds. -Bathroom. There is a toilet and a lavatory inside the cabin. There is also a full bathroom located down stairs. Both are private for this cabin. It´s a full bathroom equipped with shower, lavatory and toilet. Electricity The electricity in the house comes from solar panels, therefore it is highly recommended to make proper use of it as it is only intended for lightning and charging small electronic devices such as mobile phones, digital cameras, tablets and laptops. The electrical system does not provide enough power for electrical appliances such as irons, microwave and coffee machines (for brewing coffee, we provide a french press). Things provided. We provide for our guests the bed linen (pillow, sheets and a blanket per guest), towels and hand soap. Lawn. We absolutely love our lawn. We have planted lots of trees and have taken care of the endemic ones. The property is covered with grass and it is shady. calisthenics station. We have installed a basic calisthenic unit for exercising. Feel free to use it and enjoy it. For guests staying a week or longer, we provide two mountain bikes for getting to town and buy groceries. The bikes have locking pads and it is mandatory to lock them down secure at all time. We try to be helpful not just with house related stuff, we can always give suggestions on how to get different services such as; taxi, travels, touristic information, and so on. Feel free to ask for advice or recommendations, we are always willing to help. We encourage the guests to enjoy the property with all privacy, although as normal in all properties, maintenance will be performed. When staying with us we offer a number of ways to reach us. -Hiring a taxi service with us -We will provide you the google map`s location in the following cases. a) if you decide to rent a taxi (or a car) at the airport b) if you drive your own car c) If you arrive by bus Supplies and provisions. You should source any groceries in Hidalgo. Near the cabin there are a few beer stores and basic markets. You could use the bikes for that, otherwise a 45 Min walk to the supermarket in Hidalgo will do. If you arrive there driving a car, there is plenty of parking space inside the property. During the peak season (November-March) we run a tiny mexican restaurant in the premises where we serve fresh food on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday Saturday and Sunday. The menu consists basically of a variaty of mexican food and once a week we host a pizza night, home made and baked in our wood fired oven. We specialize on vegetarian and vegan food, we have taken advantage of the fact that mexican food is quite easy to prepare with alternatives to meat so we have come up with our personal interpretation of vegetarian/vegan mexican food. We have had great feedback regarding the quality and pricing of our food For guests staying one week or longer, we can lend them two mountain bicycles. Please keep in mind that we are lending these bikes as courtesy and free of charge and they are intended to make things easier when going to Hidalgo. These bikes are basics and are not by any means high-end bikes with expensive components, and definitely not intended for extreme riding. We also reserve the right to withhold them for one or more days in case they need adjusting or maintenance. I do not have the immediate booking option because I encourage guests to ask questions and clarify all doubts they might have regarding the house and its location. Please do send me any number of messages with all your questions, I truly want our guests to make sure the house is up to their expectations and needs.
