There is also a public boat launch, boardwalk and observation tower that overlooks Port Royal Sound and Parris Island. A few blocks from the home is the Cypress Wetlands nature sanctuary with its walking trails and boardwalk. Port Royal offers several unique shops, restaurants, and a wonderful gourmet coffee shop, all within a mile from the house. Port Royal is host to seasonal festivals and events throughout the year, including the Soft Shell Crab Festival in April, Oktoberfest in October, and free live music on the main street on Paris Ave every other Saturday from May through September. Enjoy walking to Sands Beach and strolling along the boardwalk that borders the water. Climb the observation tower and watch boats go by or see if you can spot dolphin playing in the water. Right across the water is Parris Island where new recruits are trained every day. Take another walk to the Cypress Wetlands and see many species of birds, plants and animals. Look for turtles and alligators sunning themselves just below you.
