Are you looking for a quiet Vermont getaway with friends or family but still be close to Killington Recreation and many other Vermont activities and restaurants? This is the place for you!!! The Yellow Farm House, built in 1830, is 9 mi from K-1 and 3 mi from Pico. Wake up in the morning surrounded by acres of meadows with views of the Green Mountains from every angle. Then after a day of sunshine and fresh air collapse at night in comfortable beds. Don’t miss this escape to Vermont! The farmhouse is a single family dwelling nestled on 20 acres of meadows surrounded by sugar maples, and birch trees right in the heart of the Green Mountain National Forest! In the summer the meadows are filled with butterflies. The fall views are spectacular! This is our guest house for our family and friends so this is not a heavily used rental. This is a place that family and friends come to escape to for rest and relaxation and we hope you will find it just as relaxing . Come thoroughly enjoy Vermont with Mountain Views all around you just outside your front door ! Don’t forget to watch the sunset!! In the summer, fall and spring there is an old horse riding ring that we keep mowed next to a creek with plenty of room to run, play tag and catch lightning bugs. Through the meadow there is a cut path which will allow you to walk amongst the butterflies enjoying the milkweed. There is also a covered breezeway with outdoor furniture to hang out in during inclement weather or when the summer bugs come to hang . NO motorized vehicles or hunting allowed on the property. No open fires . There is a gravel driveway with plenty of room to park your vehicles. Bikes and Hiking Boots are encouraged. In the winter the Lower Meadow is a wonderful place to snowshoe and cross country ski. This is a single family home - You will have complete privacy. We live 1/4 mile up the road so we are available for anything and don’t hesitate to ask questions via phone or text. I am happy to give any recommendations that will make your stay perfect. If you prefer I’m happy to meet you at check in to give you a tour but you must request this option. If you do not request it I will assume you would prefer your privacy and hope to explore at your leisure. The farmhouse is on a quiet road right off of Route 4 just west of Pico. We have amazing neighbors so please respect their privacy. We absolutely love it here and know you will as well . Are you in town to explore Killington? We are only 5.9 miles to the base of Killington Access road and only 8 miles to Killington’s K1 Lodge. Are you in town for a wedding ? We are 6 miles to Mountain Top Inn and right next door to the Vermont Inn. Are you hoping to hike ? Right next to Long Trail and AT . Bike? We are 6 miles from the Sherburne Trails and 7.8 miles from Pinehill Park. Paddle Board ? Near Chittenden Reservoir, Kent Pond and Woodward Reservoir ... happy to help you plan your visit !!! MENDON Mendon is a scenic, rural town in Vermont's Rutland County. Nestled in the Green Mountains, the quaint and scenic location is ideal for hikers and skiers. Aitken State Forest has a number of hiking trails with splendid views, and its abundant supply of outstanding golf courses makes Mendon a cornucopia for golf enthusiasts. Venture a little farther east on Route 4 with its scenic forests along the north side of the road and you will arrive at Pico Mountain Ski Resort for a medley of winter sports. A lovely town representing the classic Vermont style with its quiet country inns and historic downtown, the colors of Fall are something to behold. Restaurants are abundant in the area accommodating its seasonal visitors of hunters, skiers, and fall leaf peepers. Being near the center of the state, nothing is too far for a day trip for residents. The neighboring Rutland, Vermont's third largest city, provides any necessary amenities and the occasional city nightlife. A prime location with a variety of distinct housing opportunities, Mendon is a perfect setting for year-round outdoor enthusiasts The farmhouse is on a plowed road and is approximately 1/4 miles off of Route 4. Although you feel like you are deep in Vermont countryside you are actually very close to Rutland for groceries and restaurants and close to the Killington access road for skiing, restaurants and night life. Please note that this is an old farmhouse.... The doorways are low and the stairway to the second floor is steep. If you are taller than 6 ft you will have to duck your head an inch to walk through most doorways. The pumpkin pine floors are original please help us preserve the floors by not dragging the furniture across it. The Farmhouse uses a septic system please do not flush anything down the toilets or sinks besides toilet paper. Trash cans are provided in each bathroom. If you are approved to bring a furry friend and you leave the house fur free you will be refunded your pet fee. Check in and Check out time are flexible depending on availability. Please don’t hesitate to ask.
