The Primrose Cottage is a rustic one bedroom, self-catering seaside bungalow situated on the bluff above Moosebec Reach. Built in the early 1900's in the Craftsman style. Modern plumbing and filtered water added later. Easy walk to the local library, historic society and marina. Easy drive to many points of interest. Local hiking on Great Wass Island & Bar Island are within a 10 minute drive. A perfect spot to relax and take in the views or use as a launching point for Maine adventures. Cottage is quite small. Quaint. Access to cottage, lawn and shoreline. Please note that one must walk through uneven grass from the parking area and go up 3-4 steps to enter the cottage. It is not accessible to people with difficulty walking. Jonesport is "real Maine" and not a tourist center. It is tucked away and sometimes shrouded in fog. It's rugged landscape and dramatic sea make it unique. Often at least 10 degrees cooler than 15 minutes inland, the breezes usually waft through the open windows. We love our Maine home, but it is not for those who want to swim in the ocean and play in the sand. The shoreline is for walking, hunting for sea glass, discovering things that wash ashore, and watching for seals, bald eagles and loons. The cottages are located on a bank above the shoreline. Moosebec Reach is a working lobster boat harbor. The shore/beach is perfect for hunting for sea glass, discovering things that wash ashore and watching for seals and eagles, not for swimming or playing in the sand. Water is very cold. Tides are about 15 feet, so shore looks very different between high and low tides. The property is completely non-smoking, both inside and outside the cottage. A fee of $100 will be billed if the cottage smells of smoke.
