Perched over the water in San Marcos’ best swimming bay, with spectacular views of lake and volcanos, this sunny casita features romantic balcony, private beach, living/study room and access to gorgeous yoga platform, kayaks, SUP, sauna, shared massage/dining/swimming dock and outdoor kitchen with stovetop, refrigerator, coffee maker. (Change in host required us to give up our five-star rating and great reviews, but you can read them here. We arrange transport from airport, massage, much  more. This casita sits on a very large property right on the shore of the lake. You will have lake access from the lower bedroom and your own small private beach area. In addition to two private rooms and private bath, the casita includes use of a lovely swimming dock shared wtih occupants of the other casitas on the property, use of kayaks (3) and a stand up paddleboard, a shared outdoor kitchen and beautiful shared yoga platform. Sauna (temescal) is available for a small additional fee . Just reserve your time and our gardener will prepare it for you . Our locally-based property manager, Byron (and US-based owner, Joyce) will always be available to assist you with any questions in preparing for your stay. We are happy to help coordinate your travel plans so that your vacation is truly relaxing from arrival to departure. Guests will be greeted and welcomed to the property on arrival and provide you with a local phone to make it easy to contacting him with your questions, recommendations for restaurants, excursions and hikes, or to arrange for boats or massage. In addition, our trusted longtime gardeners, Miguel and Mateo, will be available during the day should you opt for the temazcal (sauna), pizza oven, kayaks, etc. Your privacy is of course always respected. If you would like additional housekeeping we can coordinate as well. A true luxury option is access to your very own private chef. Please let us know If these options interest you and we'll provide rates Each of our three casitas, including this one that we call To Die For, are part of a large lakefront compound, Casa Paloma, created by the owner, an American writer who named each space after one of her novels. Great care has been taken with every detail, from the 100% cotton sheets and organic soaps to flowers in the room, local art work and textiles, carved stone, and much more. To Die For is located in a quiet bay with the best swimming on the lake. You will enjoy total privacy and also benefit from the amenities of the whole property, including a premier-quality covered yoga platform next to a waterfall, wood-fired sauna, outdoor kitchen, great wifi, massage dock, kayaks, SUP and more. Close enough to town that you can easily walk in or take a tuk-tuk, but not so close you'll be bothered by noise. A top choice for many honeymoon couples, To Die For offers an unmatched view of the lake, close enough that you'll hear the waves lapping on the shore as you sleep. A magnificent pair of hand-crafted bamboo doors opens direct from the sitting area onto your own private beach/ swimming and lounging spot. And then there are the stars....and the birds when the sun comes up over the volcano. Our property manager is happy to arrange an airport pickup , or a pickup in Antigua, with a private driver who will drive you to the lake and put you on a private boat that brings you directly to our dock, where he will meet you and get you oriented. We can also arrange for massage on the property, or a sunrise volcano hike, and more. We strongly discourage driving yourself to San Marcos. You will not need a car in the village--and reaching other villages is best accomplished by boat. If you do wish to drive to the lake, you can easily leave your car at the Parqueo in Panajachel and take a boat from there. For meals, you are welcome to cook in the outdoor kitchen, though for a more elaborate meal, you'll probably want to walk into the village (a ten minute walk or five minute tuk tuk ride. Our host, Nat, can advise you on restaurant options we recommend.) Once a week during high season --and periodically at other times--our chef, Rosa, will be making pizza in the pizza oven. On pizza nights, a communal table will be set up for all guests who choose to take advantage of this experience. Rosa's pizza is the absolute best. And you are likely to enjoy , too, the company of your fellow travellers. Nat can fill you in on this when you arrive.
