It's summer in the mountains, and there are plenty of things to enjoy this season in Nelson County. Nestled in the trees at Wintergreen, our cozy mountain home is the perfect base camp for all things for summer fun! From hiking to golf, winery tours, horse back riding and farmers markets. Livin' On The Edge is a well appointed three bedroom, two level home with two living area's, one on each floor, a fully stocked kitchen and large dining room table. There are cozy bunk beds expanding the head count for sleeping arrangements, located in the large living room/game room on the first floor. The main living area is on the the second floor sporting an open floor plan for the best of entertaining. The main private master bedroom, large open kitchen, dining room, and main living room are on this floor, with access to the upper level patio which runs along the entire front of the home. The second living area is on the first floor, and is used as a game room as well as sleeping area for extra guests and kids in the bunk beds. This floor hosts the other two private bedrooms, both with queen beds. One room is a second master, with a private entrance to the shared bathroom. There is also access to the downstairs deck. Please note for winter sports: Although we are very close to the slopes we are not a ski in ski out home. The entire home is for your use. This is a single family home with private driveway and entrance. This is not a condo or townhouse. Nestled in the trees on a quiet street near the resort and slopes in Wintergreen. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking for two or for a large crowd. Food storage containers, knives, grilling utensils, a large butcher block counter top for food prep. There are a variety of seasonings, olive oil, vinegar, coffee, sugar etc. Please note although the house is perfect for families, with it being two levels, you may choose to bring a baby gate for safety. We have hosted multiple families with children, but be aware there are many steps. The upstairs patio has a latched gate, but it is not child proof! There is also a ladder in the living room that leads to a play nook for older children, but is not safe for small toddlers/young children, It can be blocked or moved aside for safety. There is a charging station with multiple ports on the main level, two Alexa's, Wifi with top speeds for streaming, video conferencing etc. USB outlets in each room in the house. Although there is currently no AC, there are portable units in both master bedroom closets. There are many windows as well allowing a beautiful breeze and fresh mountain air. There are several fans in the house as well which help to keep it cool. The house is also mostly shaded and depending on mountain temperatures typically stays fairly cool. The driveway is gravel, and very steep, all wheel or four wheel drive strongly recommended. The driveway currently fits 4 - 6 cars depending on their size. For those avid skiers or snowboarders, pack your bags, there is a 4 minute walk to a shortcut where you can drop in right to the slopes. Tip: Rent your equipment ahead of time, buy your lift ticket online to skip the lines and head directly to the slopes!!! For those of you hikers, this is one of our favorite things to do also. The old Appalachian trail is also a short walk, just a few houses down. We have lightweight day packs for your pleasure located in the upstairs credenza, as well as maps of some of our favorite nearby hikes.
