La Casa Luna Beach Cottage offers a great relaxing stay with a short walk of only 250 steps to the beach! The cottage is a private guest house located on the side of the main house (occupied by the owners), in a peaceful neighborhood on the beach side of A1A. La Casa Luna is basically a backyard guest house. Complete with a shared backyard garden and pool! Very comfortable for 2 but can accommodate 4 if couch sleeping suits you. The couch is not a pull out but has 2 pads on a wooden frame. Would be suitable for children. Pets welcomed for an additional onetime fee of $100 no matter the length of stay. One parking space available in driveway, second car must park in street in front of main house. Nonsmokers only. This fully furnished, colorful space is perfect for a getaway off the beaten path. Located in a small and quiet neighborhood on the east side of A1A. The kitchen is fully equipped for all your cooking needs. It has 2 private outdoor sitting areas plus the area around the pool, 2 outdoor showers (one with hot water) in a comfortable relaxed atmosphere. The pool is a black bottom pool which is heated by the sun quickly, complete with Jacuzzi jets and seat at one end. We equip the air handler with a special UV Germicidal Light which is a continuous germicidal disinfectant, improves indoor air quality, and sterilizes mold, bacteria, allergens and viruses. We believe this is an important addition in this time of COVID. With it's own private entrance located to the side of the main house, there is plenty of space for beach toys and equipment. Guests are welcomed to enjoy the back garden area and pool that are shared with the owners in the main house. I have rented my cute beach cottage for over 15 years now and have had some wonderful people from all over stay here. The cottage is totally private, and I'm just a phone call away if you need anything! Our small neighborhood is calm and quiet, mostly made up of families and seniors. Only two blocks in total, we're right on historical Butler Beach. Butler Beach Park is next door to the neighborhood, fully equipped with showers and restrooms, picnic tables and barbecue grills, and a boardwalk over the dunes. Across A1A is the inter-coastal Butler Park West that also has restrooms and picnic tables, and a boat ramp. Beautiful sunsets are worth the short walk! SEA TURTLE NESTING SEASON MAY 1- OCTOBER 31 St. Johns County is home to a variety of wildlife including several species of endangered or threatened sea turtles, the native Anastasia Island beach mice, gopher tortoises, and shorebirds. Each spring, our beaches are buzzing with activity as sea turtles, beach mice, gopher tortoises, and shorebirds are nesting and foraging-continuing throughout the summer months. Those who live and visit St. Johns County have a special opportunity and responsibility to protect these magnificent creatures and their vulnerable nesting and feeding habitat. A LITTLE HISTORY: Butler Beach, Florida, is steeped in African-American history. The beach is named in honor of Frank B. Butler, a local black businessman who played an important role in the civil rights movement in St. Augustine, acting as host to Martin Luther King Jr. when he made his widely publicized visit to St. Augustine in 1964. Just south of St. Augustine, the cottage is located on Anastasia Island. The Island has grocery stores, restaurants, and fun family activities, all in a 15 minute radius (by car). Historical Downtown St. Augustine is a 20 minute drive, and well worth it! The extensive history and beauty of our wonderful city will keep you occupied for days! IMPORTANT: A 5% bed tax has been added to the nightly rate. Please be aware of this additional fee ordered by law through the county. All the landscaping is xeriscape using mostly Florida natives with a relaxed comfortable beachy feel. The cleaning fee is a livable wage paid to the housekeeper. We truly believe in composting and recycling, so you're welcome to pitch in during your stay!
