Welcome to La Terraza, our charming and spacious 2-bedroom apartment, located in the heart of Quetzaltenango. We offer our guests things that can be hard to find in the city. Stable, high-speed internet (35mb); quiet, heated bedrooms; high-quality beds and bedding; a gourmet kitchen; and of course, La Terraza, a huge private rooftop garden with incredible views! All just a 5-minute walk from Central Park, shopping, restaurants, entertainment and transportation. We are located on the second floor and accessed by a private entrance and a flight of stairs. We have keyless entry so you can check-in whenever you need. On arrival, you'll be welcomed by french-press coffee, tea, filtered water, seasonal fruit, and Guatemalan hot chocolate to help you get settled in. The jewel of the home, is our huge rooftop garden where you can relax in the swing or at the patio table. The terrace has breathtaking 360 degree views of the city, volcano Santa Maria and cerro del Baul and is an enchanting place to relax, meditate, do yoga, eat a meal or savor a cup of Guatemalan coffee. When you're not relaxing on the terrace, you can enjoy the large dining room with a professional workstation and ergonomic work chair; the cozy living room with comfortable couches and a 32" smart HD TV with cable and Netflix; the fully-equipped gourmet kitchen; and a covered patio with a table and chairs so you can read, relax and eat outdoors in any weather. For those who work from home, La Terraza offers high speed internet from two different companies (35mb download and 10mb upload) as well as a backup battery to provide an extra level of reliability and redundancy in the event of a temporary service outage, which in Guatemala does happen on occasion. Each bedroom has a high quality mattress, pillows and bedding, a space heater, and a wardrobe. Room 1 (with the queen size bed) is especially quiet as it is located at the back of the apartment, away from any street noise. The window is shared with the covered patio but allows plenty of natural light. Room 2 (with the full size bed) is bright and stays nice and warm in the cooler months thanks to its western exposure. There is a parking lot next door so there can be some normal "city" noise on weekend evenings with comings and goings. For guests who book more than 7 days, we offer a free cleaning during your stay to make sure you have everything you need and can relax and enjoy your time at La Terraza. My trusted friend, Paty, will come by (usually on Wednesday mornings) to wash linens, care for the plants and clean the apartment. We will coordinate with your schedule to make sure the cleaning is not disruptive to your plans. You'll enter the home via a lockbox that has keys inside. You'll have access to the entire apartment, excluding two locked rooms that are only for owner use (the master bedroom and a small utility room.) I manage my Airbnb from the US where I live with my husband and 3 year old daughter. I am always available to help with anything that comes up during your stay and have a wonderful team of people in Xela available at a moments notice if you need in-person assistance. Our neighborhood is amazing. Located in the historic district of downtown Xela, we are just a 5 minute walk from Central Park where you'll find great cafes, bars, and restaurants. As well, just 3 blocks from the apartment is the Flores Mercado with a fantastic assortment of fresh meats, fruits and vegetables and a well stocked mini supermarket. Uber is very reliable in Xela. As well there are several public shuttles near downtown to help get around. I can also recommend several trustworthy taxi drivers whom we've used for years. We do not have onsite parking but I can recommend several parking lots nearby. LAUNDRY: The washing machine on site is not for guest use. There is a large utility sink on the patio and clothes lines on the terrace if you need/want to wash clothing by hand. I can also recommend two very good laundry mats close to the apartment. PARKING: During the day, there is usually street parking in front of the apartment. At night, there are paid parking lots within 2-3 blocks of the apartment that are between 40-50Q a night. I don't recommend leaving a car on the street between 11pm and 5am.
