This lovely colonial property is a 3-mile ride to the Mystic Seaport, shops, and restaurants. The "Main House" sleeps 8, and "The Smith," this listing, sleeps 4, is ideal for family and friends traveling together! Enjoy Mystic River and Mystic Seaport history. Scenic River Rd is just around the corner from our home! Come, let us take care of you! Hello Guests! Welcome to our accommodations, where memories are made! We are so happy to offer warm and welcoming hospitality to our guests visiting this quaint seafaring village, Mystic CT. The Williams property consists of two buildings: the Smith Cottage (sleeps 4) *** this listing The Williams Home (sleeps 10) is reserved separately. ** Note: this listing is for The Smith only, but we like to give information for the whole property. A little history... The 1807 Williams Home, reserved separately or with The Smith, if you wish, opened as the Wayside Inn originally. Stagecoaches made this a regular stopping point on their New London-Providence runs. On January 17, 1840, Daniel Webster, traveling by sleigh, stopped in for a drink on his way to the Groton Ferry to catch a boat to New York! Such history... if only the walls could whisper words of the past! The Smith Cottage, this listing, was named in honor of being the local blacksmith shop in the early 1900s. Nautical touches, antiques, modern amenities, and an eye for detail fill each room of the 1807 Williams property. In honor of Mystic's maritime history, we named our rooms after historical maritime buildings located on the grounds of the Mystic Seaport Museum. By artist Susan Dwyer Leach, whimsical nautical murals grace the walls of The Smith and the Williams Home; Tavern Room, Keeping Room, and each Guest Room, depicting Mystic history and the nautical buildings the rooms are named after.
