Ex-Hacienda Don Pedrillo
Nestled in the lush Oaxaca valley, the (former) Hacienda of Don Pedrillo is a tranquil retreat for the discerning traveler who appreciates serenity, privacy, and nature. Ancient mountains rise majestically on the valley's horizon, framing the striking views from the Hacienda. Spaniards built this unique dwelling in 1643 as a granary. It sits atop a nearly 400-year-old foundation on 2 ½ acres that back onto a tranquil nature reserve that you're welcome to explore. You will leave the main road, turning onto an 800-ft gravel drive that winds its way toward Don Pedrillo. You'll pass rich, native plants, including countless cacti, and arrive at the house, where history greets you. The bespoke red iron front door - crafted by a local artisan - boldly punctuates the building's facade, letting you know you've arrived somewhere unique, somewhere different. Inside the well-appointed house, an impressive 20-foot ceiling caps the open floor plan comprising individual living, dining, sleeping area with KING bed and a full kitchen. Adjacent to the sleeping space is an ensuite bathroom. There is a sense of quiet here due to the building's 3 ½ foot thick walls, allowing the interiors to maintain a comfortable temperature. (There is an AC split system for exceptionally hot days.) The floor plan's open flow allows for easy socializing between spaces. Whether relaxing, cooking, or checking emails, you can enjoy each other's company easily in this lovely home. The living area contains two seats and a full-sized sofa; locally grown plants soften the space, while pops of color add to the cheerful atmosphere. There is also a good-sized desk and chair if you're working remotely. The home's exteriors allow guests to create beautiful experiences and memories! Guests can explore and relax in the garden or do trail walks in the adjacent nature reserve. The home's double carport is mainly used as an outdoor living space to enjoy the views, outdoor dining, a hammock nap, or an evening cocktail as the sun sets. You can hear the water rushing down the nearby cascades during the rainy season. The waterfalls and mountains are visible from the garden. You can visit a natural water spring within a five-minute walk from the Don Pedrillo. The historic former Hacienda of Don Pedrillo awaits your arrival. The home is designed for our guests' experience and comfort throughout their stay in this unique dwelling. Fabian is available on most days and he can help you with anything you may need. Feel free to call or message him. The remarkable landscape is dotted with quieter, smaller villages, famous distilleries, and archeological sites. A mountain range frames the valley, offering beautiful vistas. The tropical savanna climate is ideal for lush landscapes. The region is one of Mexico's most biologically diverse states, with more than 50 percent of all species in Mexico found here. With its roots dating back to 15th Century Aztec culture, the region is more Aztec than Mayan. However, the native people of Oaxaca are largely Zapotec and Mixtec. The area has 16 indigenous groups. You will see many of their unique crafts and textiles in local village shops. We can arrange a private driver (Fabian) who can pick you up and drive you to the airport as well as to all the attractions nearby: Hierve el agua, Mitla, Matatlan, Teotitlan del Valle, etc. Or, you can rent a car and make the trips yourself. Otherwise, you can use public transportation to get around. Fabian can explain all about it. KING size bed
