No need for a car you can walk to restaurants, shops, bars, and the main beaches in Sosua. To go to Cabarete(a neighboring town) it's a 10-15min drive. There are local transport guaguas and public cars, they go on the main highway if you want to try the local transport way it's very affordable. 1 US$ to go to Cabarete and 2US$ to Puerto Plata(35min drive). Always have change in pesos when you go. Motoconcho - motor-taxi, around the same rate for a short distance, like a ride from the supermarket or the beach when you're too tired to walk. Use with discretion as you don't have a helmet and the risk of accidents is high. Taxi, the guards can help you call the taxis. Negotiate the price before you start your trip. Set prices to different destinations. The electricity is extra, a photo of the meter will be taken the day of check-in and sent to you. At checkout, another photo will be sent to you and the payment will be sent as a request in the Airbnb app. The cost is 17pesos per kwh.
