You can get here from the mainland either via an 15 minute flight or a 90 minute boat trip. San Pedro, the only town on the island, has retained its charm while handling the growing number of visitors. Miramar is located 2.5 miles/4 km south of the town core, which means you are away from the crowds yet still within easy reach of everything. Town is not far away when you want to go in for some live music, shopping, restaurants, etc. But there are things close by too; here are a few things within walking distance of Miramar: --Suya Tour operator (2 minute walk) --Marin’s, a small grocery store (4 minute walk) --A couple of nice restaurants (2-10 minute walk) --Beach Bar & Grill (15 minute walk; breakfast, lunch, dinner, live music, outdoor bowling) The Belize Barrier Reef, the longest in the western hemisphere, is just 1/2 mile (1 km) off shore. Sit on the beach or your veranda and you can see the waves crashing over it! The water is warm and crystal clear--ideal for scuba diving, snorkeling and fishing. It's also easy to take a day trip to the mainland to visit Maya sites such as Altun Ha and Lamanai; or a trip to observe some of the 500 species of birds found in Belize and/or catch a glimpse of monkeys, manatees and crocodiles in the wild! Most people rent golf carts when visiting Ambergris Caye (it’s not possible to rent a car). We can arrange your golf cart rental; costs depend on the cart size and time of year but start at about US$320*/week. Cabs are also readily available. Please note that roads on the island are not like the paved roads you may be used to; many, if paved, have pavers rather than smooth surfaces and some parts (including right by the condo; see photo) are hard-packed sand. *Rates subject to change Note there may be additional fees if you later have more guests than originally booked.
